CSI Humboldt (also written Humboldt CSI or CSI:Humboldt) is a family breeder from Humboldt County, California, that sells its own seeds directly through its webshop at humboldtcsi.com. The range is built around S1 reversals of classic clone-only cuts, feminized “choose your own hybrid” packs and regular landrace lines. Our verdict: the genetics have a large and loyal following among home breeders, but as a place to buy seeds it is old-fashioned and slow: you order online, then mail cash or a money order, all sales are final and replies to emails can take weeks. We score it 5.3/10.
This review is based on CSI Humboldt’s published policies, current prices and shipping rates in its shop, and independent customer feedback on grower forums. All facts were checked on October 22, 2026. We did not place an order. Note that CSI Humboldt is not the same company as Humboldt Seed Company, which we review separately.

Buying From CSI Humboldt in the USA
The official store is humboldtcsi.com. SeedFinder’s breeder entry lists the same address as the breeder’s website, and forum buyers order through it. The similar domain csihumboldt.com did not load a store when we checked on October 22, 2026, so type the address carefully.
Ordering works differently from most seedbanks. You add packs to the cart and check out without paying online. The terms then ask for payment “by Blank Money Order or Cash”, ideally sent by Priority Mail with tracking, and say that orders ship “within 2-10 days of receipt of payment”. So the clock only starts once your envelope arrives. The terms also state that seeds are sold “solely for novelty purposes” as collectibles and souvenirs, and that the company is not responsible if a buyer breaks local, state or federal law.
In September 2026 the shop briefly showed everything as sold out while the site was rebuilt; buyers in an Overgrow thread reported it back online in mid-September. On October 22, 2026 the shop listed 182 seed products, 155 of them in stock with a price.
Who CSI Humboldt Is
According to its About page, the family behind CSI Humboldt has lived in Humboldt County for nearly 100 years, and three generations have grown sinsemilla cannabis around the Emerald Triangle (Humboldt, Trinity and Mendocino counties) over the last 40 or more years. The stated goal is to preserve and share older genetics and keep “the Humboldt name strong”. These are the company’s own claims.
The site footer names Humboldt Collectibles & Souvenirs Inc. as the business and carries a copyright line from 2018. We could not confirm the registration details in a public business register, and the site lists no street address. The brand is active on Instagram and Facebook, which forum users say is where sales and shipping updates appear first.
The breeder’s longest public track record is on the Overgrow forum: a first CSI Humboldt Seeds thread was started in May 2020 and reached 5,000 posts, and a second thread, opened in October 2025, had close to 2,000 posts by October 22, 2026, mostly grow reports.
Catalog and Seed Types
The shop sells only CSI Humboldt seeds and collaborations, plus a few apparel items. On October 22, 2026 we counted 182 seed listings: 138 in the feminized category and 30 in the regular category, with the rest uncategorized. 155 were in stock with a price. We found no autoflowers.
- S1 reversals: feminized selfs of well-known cuts such as Chemdog D, Chemdog ’91, Triangle Kush, Bubba Kush, Wedding Cake, Girl Scout Cookies, Strawberry Cough, TrainWreck, Durban Poison and GrandDaddy Purple.
- “Choose your own hybrid” packs: you pick a mother line (for example Chemdog D, Forbidden Fruit or Purple Urkle #103) and choose the father from a list.
- Purple and Pinks N Purps lines: Purple Urkle, Mendocino Purple and Sweet 16 crosses.
- Regular seeds and landraces: the “Pirates of the Emerald Triangle” range and a “Pure Landrace & IBL” category with lines such as Panama Red, Lebanese, Burmese and Pakistani Chitral Kush, plus Australian Bastard Cannabis lines that product pages describe as a collaboration with Painted Forest Farms.
If you are new to the difference between seed types, our guide to feminized vs autoflower vs regular seeds explains why breeders value regular seeds and landrace lines. Product pages give lineage and pack size but rarely flowering times or yields, so this catalog suits growers who already know the parent cuts.
Prices and Pack Sizes
Feminized packs hold 7 seeds; regular packs usually hold 11 or 21 seeds. Prices on October 22, 2026:
| Pack | Price | Per seed | Example |
|---|---|---|---|
| 7 feminized seeds | $100 | $14.29 | Sug’r Daddy, Sister Wifey |
| 7 feminized seeds | $120 | $17.14 | Wedding Cake S1, Sweet 16 S1 |
| 7 feminized seeds | $150 | $21.43 | Chemdog D S1, Gas to Mouth |
| 7 feminized seeds | $200 | $28.57 | Triangle Kush S1, Purple Urkle S2 |
| 7 feminized seeds | $300 | $42.86 | Irene Kush S1, Cherry Pie S1 |
| 11 regular seeds | $120 | $10.91 | Middle East CBD |
| 21 regular seeds | $120 | $5.71 | Panama Red |
| 100+ regular seeds (breeder pack) | $495 | Under $4.95 | Cannabis Australis |
Most listings sit at $120 (91 products) or $150 (61 products). A typical US order of one $150 pack costs $160 with the $10 shipping. Feminized prices are high compared with most multi-breeder seedbanks, but the regular landrace packs are among the cheapest per seed in this niche.
Shipping by Region
The policies say little about shipping beyond the 2 to 10 day dispatch window after payment arrives. They name no carrier, packaging style or transit times. To check rates, we used the shop’s own cart on October 22, 2026, with a single $150 pack and with four packs; the rate was the same for both.
United States. A $10 flat rate per order, quoted for California and New York addresses. We found no free-shipping threshold. Forum buyers describe USPS tracking once a label is created. One buyer in the CSI Humboldt Seeds (Part 2) thread reported on October 11, 2026 that an order placed on September 16 had its cash arrive on September 20, a label created on September 23 and delivery on October 10. In the spring 2026 rush after 4/20, buyers in another Overgrow thread reported waits of about two months, for example an order from April 28 that arrived around July 1.
Canada, UK and Australia. The cart quoted a $30 flat rate to addresses in Canada, the UK and Australia (as well as New Zealand and South Africa). On October 21, 2026, two UK buyers in the Part 2 thread reported about 5 to 6 weeks from order to delivery. Seed import rules differ by country, so check yours before ordering.
European Union. The cart quoted $30 for the Netherlands and Spain, but returned no shipping option for Germany or France. If you live in the EU, enter your address in the cart before you mail any payment.
Shipping to the US does not make growing legal everywhere. Seed and cultivation laws differ by state, and the federal hemp definition is changing in stages between November 12 and December 11, 2026 (P.L. 119-37, section 781, as amended by P.L. 119-103), which may affect how cannabis seeds can be sold and shipped (Congressional Research Service summary). Check your state and local rules before you order.
Because payment travels by mail, an order placed close to those dates may not ship before the rules change. Forum buyers were already asking in September 2026 whether orders would get out in time.
Germination Guarantee
We found no germination guarantee on the site. The terms say: “All orders final. Sorry, no refunds.” We found no replacement procedure, claim form or germination rate anywhere in the published pages.
In practice, many forum buyers say the free extra packs that come with orders make up for this, but freebies are not a policy and cannot be claimed. If you need protection against failed seeds, buy from a seedbank with written guarantee terms.
Payment Methods
The only payment options are cash or a blank money order sent by mail, per the terms. The checkout uses a single offline payment method and takes no card, PayPal, crypto or bank transfer. Forum buyers confirm the flow: order online, then mail the payment. One wrote in October 2025 that mailing money “is annoying”, while others say orders always arrive in the end.
Keep in mind that neither cash nor a money order gives the chargeback protection of a card payment, and cash lost in the mail is hard to recover. If you pay this way, use a tracked mail service as the terms suggest, keep your receipt and send your tracking number with your order details.
Deals, Loyalty and Discount Codes
As of October 2026:
- Sales: forum buyers reported a 20% sitewide sale with extra free packs in September and October 2026, announced on the brand’s Instagram; we found no code published on the site.
- Freebies: free extra packs are the most praised feature in forum feedback, with several buyers posting orders that included far more free packs than they paid for. This is not a written policy and cannot be claimed.
- Loyalty: we found no points or loyalty program on the site.
Customer Service
The contact page has only a web form. We found no published email address, phone number or street address. Forum feedback on support is the weakest part of the picture:
- In May 2026 a buyer opened an Overgrow thread titled “CSI HUMBOLDT still active? Payment delivered no response for 3weeks?”. Replies relayed an Instagram post in which the company said it was far behind on emails, and the buyer later received the order.
- In September 2026 buyers in the same thread reported unanswered emails and missing order confirmations, while their seeds still arrived about 2.5 to 3 weeks later.
- One buyer reported on July 1, 2026 that a requested strain was missing from the parcel, apparently because it had sold out.
We found no Better Business Bureau, SmartCustomer, Reviews.io or Sitejabber profile, so there is no public complaint record to check. Contact the company before paying if you need a specific strain, and expect slow answers.
Reputation
Overgrow. CSI Humboldt is one of the most discussed small breeders on Overgrow. Recurring themes in the threads (checked October 22, 2026):
- CSI Humboldt Seeds (Part 2) (October 2025 to October 2026): mostly grow reports and photos of S1s and hybrids; buyers describe the company as legit, pricey and generous with freebies, and slow to reply.
- CSI HUMBOLDT still active? Payment delivered no response for 3weeks? (May to September 2026): long waits and unanswered emails after 4/20, followed by delivery reports.
- CSI Humboldt Seeds (Part 1) (from May 2020): the original 5,000-post community thread, showing a long track record of deliveries and grows.
GrowDiaries. The Humboldt CSI page on GrowDiaries showed an 8.5 rating from 45 diaries, 22 harvests and 10 reviews on October 22, 2026. The sample is small and the recent reviews are mixed: one from mid-2026 reported a seeded plant with stray male flowers and disappointing smell, while older reviews praised a Chemdog D’s potency and a Forbidden Fruit S1’s vigor.
SeedFinder. SeedFinder lists 129 Humboldt CSI strains but showed no overall General Impression score for the breeder.
These are individual reports that we cannot verify. The overall picture is a respected, small breeder whose customers accept slow, manual service in exchange for rare cuts and generous extras.
Website and Ordering
The shop is a basic WooCommerce store with menus by seed type and mother line, and clear pack sizes on most product pages. Its weak points are the manual payment flow, very short policies (payment, refunds and dispatch time fit in a few lines of the terms, with a separate privacy page added in September 2026), no FAQ, a contact form as the only channel, a few listings priced at $0, and stock that showed as sold out during the September 2026 rebuild. For growing basics, see our guide on how to grow cannabis at home.
Who CSI Humboldt Suits, and Who Should Look Elsewhere
A good fit if you: want S1s of classic clone-only cuts such as Chemdog, Triangle Kush or Bubba Kush straight from the breeder; make your own crosses and want regular landrace packs at low prices per seed; do not mind paying by mail and waiting several weeks; and value free extra packs over formal policies.
Look elsewhere if you: want to pay by card, PayPal or crypto; need a germination guarantee or refunds; want fast, predictable delivery or quick support; live in an EU country the cart does not serve; or want autoflowers.
Scoring Summary
| Category | Score |
|---|---|
| Seed Quality and Germination | 6.5/10 |
| Shipping and Delivery | 5.0/10 |
| Customer Service | 3.5/10 |
| Product Range | 6.5/10 |
| Price and Value | 5.5/10 |
| Website and UX | 4.5/10 |
| Overall | 5.3/10 |
CSI Humboldt scores 5.3/10 overall. Seed Quality and Germination earns 6.5/10: a long forum track record and many positive grow reports, held back by mixed recent GrowDiaries reviews on a small sample and the absence of any guarantee. Product Range also earns 6.5/10 for about 155 in-stock listings with rare S1s, choose-your-own hybrids and cheap regular landrace packs, but one breeder only and no autoflowers. Price and Value gets 5.5/10: $14 to $43 a seed for feminized packs is high, while cheap regular packs, periodic sales and frequent freebies help.
Shipping and Delivery scores 5.0/10: low flat rates ($10 US, $30 international) and wide coverage, but dispatch only starts once mailed payment arrives, buyers report waits of weeks to months, and some EU countries get no rate. Website and UX scores 4.5/10 for a simple store with very thin policies and a manual payment flow. Customer Service is the weakest category at 3.5/10: a contact form only, and repeated forum reports of unanswered emails.

Final Verdict
CSI Humboldt is a real, active Humboldt County breeder with a loyal following, a large catalog of S1 reversals and regular landrace lines, and a habit of adding free packs to orders. Its own shop at humboldtcsi.com is live, ships to the US for a $10 flat rate and to Canada, the UK, Australia and some EU countries for $30 Regular landrace packs start at $5.71 a seed.
As a store, it asks for patience and trust: payment only by cash or money order through the mail, no refunds or germination guarantee, a contact form that often goes unanswered, and delivery times that buyers measure in weeks. If you want these specific genetics and accept those terms, buying direct is the way to get them. If you want card payment, a written guarantee or quick support, start with the alternatives in our seedbank review hub.
