North Atlantic Seed Company (often shortened to NASC) is a US cannabis seed shop based in Maine. It resells original breeder packs from more than 60 breeders, adds its own house lines and a sister breeding brand, Dirty Bird Genetics, and ships only within the United States by UPS and USPS. Our verdict: one of the largest and most established domestic seed shops, with a huge catalog, fast US shipping options and generous freebies, held back by a high free-shipping threshold of $200, replacements that are discretionary, paid only as store credit and unavailable in 20 or more states, and policy pages that contradict each other. We score it 7.5/10.
This review is based on North Atlantic Seed Company’s published policies, current prices on its website and independent customer feedback. All facts were checked on October 22, 2026. We did not place an order.

Buying From North Atlantic Seed Company in the USA
NASC is a domestic US shop, so there is no customs step and no international transit. Its shipping and delivery page says it ships within the United States only, and the general FAQ specifies the continental US, Alaska and Hawaii. When we entered addresses in Canada, the UK and Australia in the shop’s cart, no shipping option was offered. A mainland US address returned five carrier options; for Alaska and Hawaii the cart offered four, without paid USPS Ground Advantage.
The terms and conditions set a minimum age of 21, describe the seeds as “collectible genetic souvenirs” and make the buyer responsible for following state and local germination laws. The FAQ goes further and says the seeds “can be legally shipped to all 50 states”. That is a simplification: the company’s own outreach page campaigns against the federal change described in the legal note below. Read that note before you order.
Who North Atlantic Seed Company Is
According to its About page, North Atlantic Seed Co. is a woman-owned business located in Maine that has worked in the cannabis industry “for over a decade”, runs its own breeding project, Dirty Bird Genetics, and carries “over 65 craft breeders”. The shop’s public contact details are an email address and a PO box in Waterville, Maine; the FAQ says it has no retail storefront and that parcels are sent under the name “NASC Creative LLC”. The Maine Secretary of State business register lists both NORTH ATLANTIC SEED CO LLC (charter number 20210280DC, filed July 6, 2020, principal office in Fairfield, Maine) and NASC CREATIVE LLC (charter number 20216390DC, filed January 28, 2021), each in good standing.
The shop has been online for years. The earliest archived copy of the site, from August 2019, already shows a seed store with a handful of breeders, including Ethos and DNA Genetics.
NASC is also active in seed policy. A Cannabis Business Times article of August 12, 2026 reports that NASC helped launch the American Seed Innovation and Growth Alliance (ASIGA) and its “Keep Seeds Legal” campaign, which opposes the federal hemp redefinition that takes effect in stages between November 12 and December 11, 2026. The shop sells “Keep Seeds Legal” products and offers a donation option at checkout for that campaign.
On awards, the About page says NASC won “Best Online Seed Shop USA” at the International Cannabis Awards in 2024 and 2025. A 2024 press release about those awards lists NASC among the winners without naming the category; we could not find an independent winners list for 2025.
Catalog and Seed Types
The catalog is very large. On October 22, 2026 the shop’s public product feed held 2,958 product listings, of which 2,213 were in stock; 2,132 of the in-stock listings were in the seeds category (the rest are grow supplies, merchandise and freebie items). The site’s own pages speak of “over 2600 strains”. Most in-stock seeds are feminized (about 1,920 listings) with around 209 regular listings; by growth type, about 1,470 are photoperiod, 620 autoflower and 43 fast-flowering. If you are still choosing a seed type, our guide to feminized vs autoflower vs regular seeds explains the trade-offs.
The breeder menu lists 65 names, from European houses such as Barney’s Farm, Dutch Passion, Royal Queen Seeds, Sweet Seeds and Fast Buds to US craft breeders such as Ethos Genetics, Compound Genetics, In House Genetics, Mephisto Genetics, Humboldt Seed Company, Night Owl Seeds and Relentless Genetics. The FAQ says breeder seeds come in their original breeder packaging.
Next to breeder packs, NASC sells several house lines: “North Atlantic Seed BWL” (bulk white label), “Commercial Cultivars” and “Private Label”, plus the Dirty Bird Genetics line it calls a sister company. Be aware that the white-label product pages state that the seeds “are sourced across the many breeders we work with” and that “breeder information is not made available for these strains”. They are cheaper, but you do not know who bred them, and they are excluded from replacements (see below).
Many product listings exist more than once, because the same strain can be sold as a breeder pack and as a white-label or pick-and-mix single, so the number of distinct strains is lower than the listing count.
Prices and Pack Sizes
Pack sizes depend on the breeder: 1, 3, 5 and 10 seeds are common, with 6, 9, 12 and 50 seeds for some lines. Single seeds are sold through “Pick and Mix” for many strains. These are the regular prices on the product pages on October 22, 2026, before cart promotions:
| Strain (breeder, type) | Smallest pack | Mid pack | Largest pack |
|---|---|---|---|
| Dos Si Dos 33 (Barney’s Farm, feminized) | 1 seed: $14.00 | 3 seeds: $36.00 ($12.00/seed) | 10 seeds: $84.00 ($8.40/seed) |
| Acapulco Gold (Barney’s Farm, feminized, shop page) | 1 seed: $18.00 | 3 seeds: $46.00 ($15.33/seed) | 10 seeds: $108.00 ($10.80/seed) |
| Gorilla Cookies Auto (Fast Buds, autoflower) | 1 seed: $15.68 | 3 seeds: $42.68 ($14.23/seed) | 10 seeds: $120.68 ($12.07/seed) |
| Amaretto Sour (Dirty Bird Genetics, feminized) | 3 seeds: $60.00 ($20.00/seed) | Not listed | 6 seeds: $100.00 ($16.67/seed) |
| Honey Fritters (Relentless Genetics, feminized) | Not listed | Not listed | 9 seeds: $225.00 ($25.00/seed) |
| Northern Lights (North Atlantic Seed BWL, feminized, shop page) | 1 seed: $10.25 | 10 seeds: $74.50 ($7.45/seed) | 50 seeds: $142.87 ($2.86/seed) |
Breeder packs from European houses work out at roughly $8 to $15 a seed, while US craft releases range more widely, from about $17 to $25 a seed in our examples. Bulk white label is the cheapest route, at under $3 a seed in 50-packs, with the trade-offs described above. Orders under $200 also pay at least $9.95 shipping, and delivery insurance (from $8) is optional but pre-selected at checkout. On a $36 order, that means $53.95 before any sales tax if you keep the defaults.
Sales are final. The refund and replacement policy says NASC does not process refunds, and the FAQ adds that card orders cannot be cancelled. Money order and cash orders are cancelled if payment does not arrive within one week.
Shipping by Region
United States. Orders ship from Maine, Monday to Friday, and the FAQ says orders typically leave within 1 to 2 business days of payment. On October 22, 2026 the cart offered these options for a mainland US address:
- USPS Ground Advantage: $9.95, estimated 7 to 14 business days; free on retail orders of $200 or more
- UPS Ground Saver: $9.95, estimated 3 to 7 business days (USPS may handle final delivery)
- UPS 2nd Day Air: $15.00, estimated 2 to 3 business days
- USPS Priority Mail: $16.45, estimated 4 to 8 business days
- USPS Priority Mail Express: $36.45, 2 business days with a USPS money-back guarantee
Delivery estimates count from when the carrier receives the parcel, not from when you order, and express orders placed later in the day may ship the next business day. For Alaska and Hawaii, the shop asks customers to allow 28 days for Ground Advantage parcels, but in our cart test the checkout did not offer paid Ground Advantage to those two states, only the UPS and Priority options.
Canada, UK, Europe and Australia. NASC does not ship outside the United States, and it says it cannot guarantee delivery for orders sent through a forwarding service.
Packaging, tracking and insurance. The FAQ says parcels ship from a Maine PO box under the name “NASC Creative LLC”, with no logo or shop name on the outside, and that stealth shipping is available to conceal breeder packs. Every order gets a tracking number by email. Delivery insurance costs $8 for orders up to $500, $12 for $500 to $750, $16 for $750 to $1,000 and $20 above $1,000; it is optional but pre-selected at checkout, so remove it if you do not want it. Lost-parcel claims require a wait of 14 business days (28 days for Alaska and Hawaii) and must be filed within 60 days of the expected delivery date; approved claims are paid as store credit. Parcels marked as delivered are only replaced if the carrier confirms an error in writing.
Shipping to the US does not make growing legal everywhere. Seed and cultivation laws differ by state, and the federal hemp definition is changing in stages between November 12 and December 11, 2026 (P.L. 119-37, section 781, as amended by P.L. 119-103), which may affect how cannabis seeds can be sold and shipped (Congressional Research Service summary). Check your state and local rules before you order.
Germination Replacements: The Exact Terms
NASC does not promise a fixed germination rate. Its refund and replacement policy describes a discretionary replacement policy instead. The key terms:
- Threshold: the shop calls a 90% germination rate “reasonable and expected” and will not replace seeds if your rate was above 89%. It advises buying 10% more seeds than you plan to grow.
- Form of replacement: store credit (a gift card) based on the price you paid, including discounts. No credit for shipping, tax or insurance, and no refunds.
- Deadline: within 60 days of purchase. The shop suggests allowing 7 to 10 days for seeds to germinate before contacting it.
- Conditions: you are asked to germinate the entire pack first and to follow the breeder’s protocol. The shop reserves the right to refuse when a customer reports failures across many breeders.
- Excluded seeds: freebies, bulk/white label, private label, HSC Phenohunter, tester strains, Dollar Treez, Gas Reaper and Fat Cat Labs seeds, plus seeds redeemed with loyalty points.
- Breeder-direct claims: germination problems with Gnome Automatics, Exotic Genetix, Cannarado Genetics and Romulan Genetics must be taken up with those breeders directly.
- Excluded states: customers in a long list of states cannot get replacements at all, based on the shipping address. The policy page lists 22 states (Alabama, Delaware, Florida, Georgia, Idaho, Indiana, Iowa, Kentucky, Louisiana, Nebraska, New Hampshire, North Carolina, North Dakota, Pennsylvania, South Carolina, South Dakota, Tennessee, Texas, Utah, West Virginia, Wisconsin and Wyoming), while the terms and conditions list 20, adding Arkansas and leaving out Delaware, Louisiana and New Hampshire.
- Process: a germination issue form asks for the order number, purchase date, strain, pack size, seeds attempted and failed, the number of days you tried and your method, with an optional file upload.
In short, this is a goodwill policy rather than a guarantee. It is reasonable for breeder packs if you live in an eligible state, but growers in roughly 20 states, and anyone buying white label or relying on freebies, should assume there is no replacement.
Payment Methods
The payment methods page lists credit and debit cards (Visa, Mastercard and Discover) and money order or cash by mail. Cards must be issued by a US bank and tied to a US billing address, and prepaid gift cards are refused. PayPal, Venmo, Cash App and similar apps are not offered; the shop says those platforms will not support the industry. Our test checkout showed the same three routes: card, money order and cash.
American Express is a point of confusion: the payment methods page says “Amex is NOT accepted”, while the FAQ lists American Express among accepted cards. Assume Visa, Mastercard or Discover. Money order and cash orders ship once payment arrives by mail, and the shop asks you to send tracking for the envelope; without that proof it says it cannot honor a payment lost in the mail.
Deals, Loyalty and Discount Codes
As of October 2026, NASC relies on automatic promotions rather than public coupon codes. We found no general discount code on the site. These were the main ways to pay less on October 22, 2026:
Monthly and breeder promotions. The promotions page listed a buy-one-get-one-free offer on a selection of packs (October 1 to 31, second pack of equal or lesser value), 10% off the “Candy Collection” and “Unique Terpenes” categories (October 1 to 31), 30% off clearance items, and a “Breeder of the Week” deal (10% off Lamb’s Breath Seeds plus 10 free regular seeds per pack, October 22 to 29). More than 20 breeders added free seeds per pack, from 1 to 12 seeds depending on the breeder. All of these run “while supplies last” with exclusions.
House freebies. The cart adds a free house freebie automatically; on our test cart it was a Dirty Bird Genetics feminized photoperiod seed. The freebie directory says house photoperiod freebies have come from Dirty Bird Genetics since spring 2025 and that most are testers. Freebies are not eligible for replacement.
Spend More, Get More. The Spend More, Get More page adds breeder freebies at $125, $200 and $300, stacking with house and breeder freebies. Wholesale orders and donations do not count toward the thresholds.
Canna Coins. The loyalty program gives 1 Canna Coin per $1 of product subtotal after discounts (merchandise and shipping excluded), and 100 Canna Coins are worth $1, which works out to about 1% back. Extras include 500 coins on your birthday, 500 for a referred friend’s first order, 200 for spending $500 or more in one order and 10 coins each for following the shop on social media. Coins can also be redeemed for loyalty seed packs, which are not eligible for replacement. The program started on October 4, 2023 and needs an account.
Customer Service
NASC lists fewer channels than some competitors:
- Email: [email protected] (wholesale: [email protected])
- A contact form with file upload, plus separate forms for germination issues, delivery insurance claims and incorrect or missing packs
- Hours: Monday to Friday, 9 AM to 4 PM Eastern; the shop asks you to allow up to 2 business days for a reply
We found no phone line, and the FAQ says orders are not taken by phone. For a missing or wrong pack, the incorrect-pack form asks for a photo of the packing slip and the items; the FAQ says NASC will ship missing items or send a return label for incorrect products. The terms also say the shop may not answer questions about germination, THC, yield or flowering time if it suspects a customer is breaking state law.
On public complaint handling, we found no Better Business Bureau profile for the shop when we searched on October 22, 2026, and no reviews on SmartCustomer (formerly Sitejabber) or Reviews.io.
Reputation
SeedFinder. The SeedFinder seedbank page showed a General Impression of 8.66 out of 10 from 29 user reviews on October 22, 2026 (Product Quality 8.91, Delivery Speed 9.08, Customer Service 8.0), with reviews from 2021 to October 2024. Most reviews praise fast delivery, original breeder packaging and freebies; the negative ones mention seeds that the reviewers felt were old and did not germinate, and being referred to the breeder for a replacement. Note that the most recent review is two years old.
Reddit. NASC comes up often in r/Autoflowers, and the tone is mostly positive about the shop, with recurring advice to choose breeder packs over white label:
- “First grow, cherry pie auto from North Atlantic seed (free seed)” (September 22, 2024): a first-time grower shares a harvest from a NASC freebie; the post drew more than 150 upvotes.
- “North Atlantic seed Co opinion” (November 12, 2024): replies report no complaints, quick shipping and good freebies; one user says white-label CBD seeds with poor germination were replaced, another that an email about Canna Coins went unanswered for a month. Several advise buying breeder packs rather than white label.
- “avoid AutoSeeds from North Atlantic Seed Company” (July 3, 2026): a buyer reports seeds from one breeder that crumbled and a freebie that grew male; most replies defend NASC as a distributor with responsive service and suggest transit damage.
- “Are the North Atlantic Seed branded seeds White label?” (September 5, 2026): users confirm the house lines are labeled as white label on the product pages; opinions on their value are split, with some calling about $10 a seed too much for unknown genetics and others reporting good results.
These are individual reports that we cannot verify, but the pattern is consistent: the shop itself is widely trusted for delivery and breeder packs, while the value of its white-label lines is debated.
Website and Grow Resources
The site is large and well organized for browsing: filters by seed type, growth type, breeder and trait, recommendation lists (beginner friendly, outdoor, high yield and more), a promotions calendar, a blog with grow tips and strain reports, and a germination guide. Product pages show genetics, flowering time, yield and terpene notes. For the basics, our guides on how to grow cannabis at home and autoflower vs photoperiod are a good starting point.
The weak spot is consistency. The payment page and FAQ disagree on American Express, the policy page and terms list different states that are excluded from replacements, and the THC wording differs between pages (“0% THC”, “less than 0.3%” and “less than 0.03%”). The FAQ’s statement that seeds can be shipped legally to all 50 states also needs the legal context above.
Who North Atlantic Seed Company Suits, and Who Should Look Elsewhere
A good fit if you: live in the US and want domestic shipping with tracking and several speed options; want original breeder packs from a wide range of US craft and European breeders in one cart; place larger orders that reach the $200 free-shipping line and the $125 to $300 freebie tiers; or like hunting promotions and free seeds.
Look elsewhere if you: live outside the US; want to pay with PayPal, crypto or a non-US card; live in one of the states excluded from replacements and want germination cover; want a written germination guarantee with cash refunds rather than store credit; or place small orders, where $9.95 shipping plus default insurance adds a lot to the price.

Final Verdict
North Atlantic Seed Company is an established US seed shop: online since at least 2019, based in Maine, with a SeedFinder General Impression of 8.66 from 29 reviews, a mostly positive reputation on Reddit and an active role in the campaign over the 2026 federal hemp change. It offers one of the largest catalogs of original breeder packs available with domestic shipping, plus a steady flow of BOGO deals and free seeds.
The limits are concrete. It ships only within the US, free shipping starts at $200, delivery insurance is pre-selected at checkout, and payment is limited to US-issued cards and mail-in money orders or cash. Germination problems are handled at the shop’s discretion with store credit, not refunds, and buyers in roughly 20 states are excluded entirely. If you are a US grower who wants breeder packs from many breeders in one order and you can live with those terms, it is a strong choice. To compare it with the rest of the field, see our seedbank review hub.
