Archive Seed Bank is an Oregon cannabis breeder best known for Do-Si-Dos, the Moonbow line and Rainbow Belts, and it sells its own seeds directly through archiveseedbank.com. Our verdict: the place to buy Archive genetics at the source, mostly as 12-seed regular packs, but with no germination guarantee, email-only support, limited stock between drops and policy pages that contradict each other. We score it 5.8/10.
This review is based on Archive Seed Bank’s published policies, current prices and shipping options in its online store, and independent customer feedback. All facts were checked on October 27, 2026. We did not place an order.

Buying From Archive Seed Bank in the USA
Archive Seed Bank is a US seller aimed at US buyers. Its current shipping policy (effective June 18, 2025) says it ships “only within the United States to states where seed sales are permitted”. In the cart on Oct 27, 2026, the store showed the same $10 Economy rate to addresses in California, New York, Texas, Idaho and Oregon, so the checkout itself did not block any of the states we tried. That does not make every destination legal, so check your own state rules first.
The terms of service set a minimum age of 21 and describe the seeds as “adult novelty souvenirs or collectibles”. A separate disclaimer page calls them hemp seeds containing less than 0.3% Delta 9 THC and says germination is limited to places where it is legal. Those are the company’s own statements about its products.
Who Archive Seed Bank Is
Archive is a breeder first and a shop second. Willamette Week, in a March 2017 strain review, called it an “Oregon-based seed company” and named it as the breeder of Do-Si-Dos, a cross of the OG Kush Breath cut of Girl Scout Cookies with its Face Off OG BX1 male. A High Times profile from September 2023 describes about 20 years of collecting and breeding, a first seed release in 2012 and a Portland store that opened in 2016 as the first US seed vendor with a retail location for seeds and clones. Willamette Week’s 2018 piece on Archive Portland places that store on SE Henry St. in Portland.
The online store, by contrast, says little about the business behind it. The current policies list no address or company details; an older, undated terms page gives an address in Keizer, Oregon, and a phone number. We found no legal entity name or registration number on archiveseedbank.com. Its scams page states that archiveseedbank.com is “the only legit website for Archive Seed Bank” and warns about cloned Instagram and Telegram accounts that ask for payment by DM.
Direct sales have not been continuous. In a July 2024 Reddit thread titled “Archive seedbank shutting down site”, customers discussed a “final sale” after which the shop would stop selling seeds on its own website. By October 2026 the store was selling again: its current policies are dated June 2025, and new drops were added as recently as October 14, 2026.
Catalog and Seed Types
The store doubles as a strain library. On October 27, 2026 its product data listed 229 seed products, but most are archived, sold-out drops. Only 18 seed listings were marked available, alongside five merchandise items (stickers, markers, lanyards, a notepad and a T-shirt). Archive releases seeds in drops, and the homepage invites buyers to join a “Fall Presale List”, so availability changes quickly.
Most in-stock seeds are regular 12-packs from Archive’s own lines, such as the Moonbow 112 IX, Rainbow Belts 2.0 (a regular-seed follow-up to the original feminized Rainbow Belts) and several crosses with “Oishii” and “Flavor Pack” males. Lineages draw on Zkittlez, Sunset Sherbet, Gelato 41 and Ghost OG. Feminized seeds come mainly from the “Expedition” line of Dosidos #18 crosses (6-packs) and from Dosi-Cake, a cross of Wedding Cake and Dosidos (3 or 6 seeds). We found no autoflowers. Each product page lists lineage, sex and pack size, and some list a flowering time, for example 63 to 72 days for Moonbow 112 IX.
Because regular packs produce both male and female plants, they suit growers who want to select phenotypes or make their own seeds more than first-time growers. Our guide to feminized vs autoflower vs regular seeds explains the trade-offs.
Prices and Pack Sizes
Prices are set per pack, in US dollars. These are the regular prices on the product pages on October 27, 2026:
| Strain (type) | Pack | Price | Per seed |
|---|---|---|---|
| Royal Oak (regular, Gelato 41 x Face Off OG BX1) | 12 seeds | $100 | $8.33 |
| Planet Sherb (regular) | 12 seeds | $175 | $14.58 |
| Moonbow 112 IX (regular) | 12 seeds | $200 | $16.67 |
| Blank Check (regular, Ghost OG x Planet Purple F2) | 12 seeds | $250 (cart price $175 with an automatic 30% discount) | $20.83 ($14.58 discounted) |
| Bubba Diagonal x Dosidos #18 (feminized, Expedition line) | 6 seeds | $35 | $5.83 |
| WiFi 43 x Dosidos #18 (feminized) | 6 seeds | $65 | $10.83 |
| SFV OG x Dosidos #18 (feminized) | 6 seeds | $70 | $11.67 |
| Dosi-Cake (feminized) | 3 or 6 seeds | $55 or $100 | $18.33 or $16.67 |
Across the in-stock regular 12-packs, prices ran from $100 to $250, which works out to roughly $8 to $21 a seed. The feminized 6-packs ran from $35 (Bubba Diagonal x Dosidos #18, an Expedition pack also tagged for the shop’s auctions, $5.83 a seed) to $120 (Pie Face x Dosidos #18). These are breeder-direct prices for limited drops, not budget prices, and with no germination guarantee every failed seed is a cost you carry yourself.
Shipping by Region
The current shipping policy promises processing within 1 to 3 business days (orders after 12 PM PST may move to the next business day, and drops can take longer), plain unmarked packaging with no mention of Archive or cannabis seeds on the outside, and a tracking number by email. It lists Standard (3 to 7 business days), Priority (2 to 5) and Express (1 to 3) options and says free shipping “may be offered for qualifying domestic orders (e.g., over $100)”.
What we saw in the cart on Oct 27, 2026 looked different. For US addresses it showed two options: Economy at $10 (estimated 5 to 8 days) and “Guaranteed Shipping with Signature” at $25. A cart worth $175 after discount still showed $10 Economy, so we saw no free-shipping threshold in practice. An older, undated shipping page that is still online says orders ship within 3 to 7 business days, up to 7 more during sales and drops, and that each shipment includes a certificate of analysis showing less than 0.3% Delta 9 THC.
| Region | Ships? | Cost seen in the cart on Oct 27, 2026 |
|---|---|---|
| United States | Yes | $10 Economy (5 to 8 days) or $25 with signature |
| Canada | Unclear: policy says no, cart showed a rate for British Columbia (not for Ontario) | $35 Standard |
| United Kingdom | Unclear: policy says no, cart showed a rate | $50 DHL |
| EU (Germany, Netherlands, Malta tested) | No rate shown | Not listed |
| Australia | No rate shown | Not listed |
Buyers outside the US should email the shop before ordering, because the written policy and the checkout disagree. Lost, delayed or seized parcels are the buyer’s risk under the policy: Archive says it is not liable for postal errors or customs enforcement and will look at store credit or reshipment “case-by-case” when a parcel is lost without delivery confirmation.
Shipping to the US does not make growing legal everywhere. Seed and cultivation laws differ by state, and the federal hemp definition is changing in stages between November 12 and December 11, 2026 (P.L. 119-37, section 781, as amended by P.L. 119-103), which may affect how cannabis seeds can be sold and shipped (Congressional Research Service summary). Check your state and local rules before you order.
Germination Guarantee: There Is None
Archive Seed Bank does not offer a germination guarantee. The refund policy says it does “not offer germination advice or guarantee germination outcomes” and “cannot offer refunds or replacements for germination issues”. The terms of service repeat that no refunds or replacements are issued for seeds that fail to germinate or perform.
What the policy does cover is damaged, incorrect or incomplete orders. You must contact the shop within 7 days of delivery with a photo of the package and contents, your order number and a short description. Approved claims get a replacement or store credit, never a refund to your card. All sales are final, and orders can only be cancelled before a shipping label is created. An older, undated returns page, still live, adds that every order is photographed before shipment and that a wrong product is replaced free of charge once that photo confirms the mistake.
Payment Methods
Payment is by card at the website checkout. The store footer shows Visa, Mastercard, American Express, Discover, Apple Pay and Google Pay. The scams page is explicit that the shop does not accept Cash App, Venmo, PayPal, Bitcoin or other crypto, cash by mail or money orders, and that it never asks for payment by DM or email outside an invoice link to its own site. Any “Archive” account that asks you to pay another way is, by the shop’s own account, not Archive.
Deals, Loyalty and Discount Codes
As of October 2026 we found no public discount code and no points or loyalty program on the site. Discounts appear as automatic offers on single strains instead: in the cart on Oct 27, 2026 we saw “30% OFF BLANK CHECK” applied, cutting that 12-pack from $250 to $175, while the product page still showed $250. The site also runs product auctions, forum contests and a presale list for upcoming drops. The footer links to a wholesale signup for retailers. Any code offered through a DM or an unofficial account should be ignored, in line with the shop’s own scam warnings.
Customer Service
Support runs by email. The contact information page lists [email protected], and the scams page names [email protected] as a second official address. We found no phone number in the current policies and no live chat; only the older terms page lists a phone number. The shop also links to its own community forum, which was active on October 27, 2026, and a Discord server. According to the scams page it never replies to Instagram DMs, and its Telegram channel is not active.
Customer feedback on service is mixed. In a September 2022 r/cannabiscultivation thread about buying from the Archive website, one buyer said Archive “resolved the issue immediately”, while another commenter argued the breeder could not offer the customer service that third-party seed banks provide.
Reputation
Archive’s reputation rests on its breeding. Do-Si-Dos and its Face Off OG work are widely cited in the press coverage above, and growers on Reddit regularly post Archive strains. Independent review platforms say very little about the store itself: on October 27, 2026, SmartCustomer (the former Sitejabber profile, which now redirects there) showed 0 reviews, and we found no Reviews.io or BBB profile.
Reddit themes, from threads we checked:
- Breeder standing: in the September 2022 thread, several commenters called Archive a long-standing, legitimate breeder, and one recommended buying direct from the website rather than through a vendor.
- Germination: the same thread includes reports of poor results, including one user whose whole pack of an Archive F1 produced no plants and another who sprouted 1 of 6. Others replied that technique and summer mailbox heat often cause failures, and one said Archive seeds germinated fully for them after a peroxide soak.
- Old stock: in a September 2026 thread comparing high-end breeders, one grower said an old pack of Archive seeds did not sprout at all.
- Availability: the July 2024 thread on the site “shutting down” shows how drop-based and irregular direct sales have been.
These are individual reports, not a measured germination rate, but with no guarantee in place they matter more than they would at a shop that replaces failed seeds.
Website and Policies
The store runs on Shopify, with a searchable strain library, lineage, sex and pack size on every product page and filters for in-stock, feminized and regular seeds. The weak point is housekeeping. On October 27, 2026 the homepage and the all-products page showed template error text (“Liquid error”) on product cards in the HTML we loaded. Two sets of policies sit side by side: the Shopify policies dated June 2025 (1 to 3 day processing, 7-day damage claims, sales@ address) and older, undated pages (3 to 7 day shipping, protonmail address, certificate of analysis in every parcel). The current terms of service say disputes fall under “the laws of the State of [Insert State]”, an unfilled placeholder, while the older terms and conditions refer to the law of the Netherlands.
Who Archive Seed Bank Suits, and Who Should Look Elsewhere
Archive Seed Bank suits experienced US growers and collectors who want Archive’s own lines at the source, are comfortable with regular seeds and pheno hunting, and can move quickly when a drop goes live. It is less suited to beginners who want feminized or autoflower seeds, buyers who rely on a germination guarantee or phone support, anyone outside the US given the conflicting shipping terms, and anyone shopping on a tight budget.
Scoring Summary
| Category | Score |
|---|---|
| Seed Quality and Germination | 7.0/10 |
| Shipping and Delivery | 6.0/10 |
| Customer Service | 5.0/10 |
| Product Range | 5.5/10 |
| Price and Value | 5.0/10 |
| Website and UX | 5.0/10 |
| Overall | 5.8/10 |
Archive Seed Bank scores 5.8/10 overall. Seed Quality and Germination is its best category at 7.0/10: these are the breeder’s own genetics with a documented history, held back by the lack of any germination guarantee and mixed germination reports on Reddit. Shipping and Delivery gets 6.0/10 for a $10 domestic rate, tracking and plain packaging, limited by conflicting processing times, no working free-shipping threshold and unclear international terms.
Product Range scores 5.5/10: a deep library of 229 seed listings, but only 18 available on our check date, mostly regular 12-packs and no autoflowers. Customer Service, Price and Value and Website and UX each score 5.0/10, reflecting email support with no live chat and no independent review data, premium per-seed prices with no guarantee, and a store that shows template errors and two contradictory sets of policies.

Final Verdict
Archive Seed Bank is the official direct store of a well-documented Oregon breeder, and it is the most direct way to buy current Archive drops such as Moonbow 112 IX, Rainbow Belts 2.0 or the Dosidos #18 Expedition crosses. US shipping is cheap at $10, packaging is discreet and payment is by card through the website only, which the shop itself stresses as its protection against impersonators.
The trade-offs are clear. There is no germination guarantee, damage claims get store credit or a replacement rather than a refund, support is by email, most stock is regular 12-packs at $100 to $250, and the written policies contradict each other on shipping times, international delivery and governing law. If you know you want Archive genetics and can live with those terms, buy from the official site and not from look-alike accounts. If a guarantee or feminized convenience matters more, compare the alternatives in our seedbank review hub.
