Last updated: October 27, 2026

Atlas Seed (often searched as “Atlas Seeds”) is a cannabis breeder from Sonoma County, California, that breeds F1 hybrid seed for commercial farms and sells smaller retail seed packs to home growers through its own webshop. Its retail range is all feminized: autoflowers plus full-term and semi-full-term photoperiods, sold in 1, 3 and 5 seed packs, shipped only within the United States. Our verdict: a serious breeder with well documented genetics and generous bonus seeds, held back by thin and sometimes contradictory shop policies and no written germination guarantee. We score it 6.5/10.

This review is based on Atlas Seed’s published policies, current prices on its website and independent customer feedback. All facts were checked on October 27, 2026. We did not place an order.

Buying From Atlas Seed in the USA

Atlas Seed is a domestic US seller, so there is no customs step. Its terms and conditions say plainly: “Shipping only provided within the United States.” The site banner offers free domestic shipping on retail orders over $120. The terms set a minimum age of 21 and describe the seeds as “a collectible adult genetic preservation souvenir”, adding that germination is illegal in many places and that the company may refuse a sale where it believes cultivation would be illegal. The product pages repeat that seeds are sold as collectibles to US customers.

Read the legal note in the shipping section below before you order.

Who Atlas Seed Is

According to its company page and FAQ, Atlas Seed is a licensed cannabis seed breeder in Sonoma County, California, started by farmers who studied agriculture at UC Santa Cruz and had run a vegetable operation in Northern California for more than ten years. The founders also wrote Cannabis Farming, published by Storey in February 2025 (Library Journal review), which the shop sells.

The main business is commercial: the home page targets farms, and bulk seed is priced by quote. Atlas says it inbreeds parent lines for up to eight to ten generations before crossing them into F1 hybrids, uses SC Labs and LeafWorks for lab testing, and trials varieties at six sites in California, Utah and New York; these are its own claims. Home growers buy from a separate retail catalog on the Shop Seeds page.

We found no legal entity name, street address or license number on the shop’s policy pages; the terms name California law for disputes.

Catalog and Seed Types

On October 27, 2026 the retail store listed 68 seed-pack products: 17 autoflowers and 51 photoperiods, the latter split into full-term and semi-full-term varieties. Semi-full term means photoperiods bred to finish earlier, useful for short outdoor seasons. Every retail pack we checked is labeled feminized, and the product pages list feminization rates of 99.9% or higher as breeder data. We found no regular (non-feminized) seeds in the retail shop.

Most names are Atlas’s own crosses, such as Banjerine, Garlic Jam, Pilot Light, Grease Gun and Mendo Breath Auto,. A few classics come in Atlas’s own versions: Blue Dream (auto, semi-full-term and full-term), Gelato 41, White Widow Auto and Wedding Cake Auto. Product pages list lineage, potency, flowering time and mold resistance as breeder data. If you are still choosing a seed type, our guides to feminized vs autoflower vs regular seeds and autoflower vs photoperiod explain the trade-offs.

Atlas also ran a smaller “R&D” line of experimental crosses earlier in 2026. A company representative explained on Reddit that these were priced higher because they come from very small lots (r/AtlasSeed, June 9, 2026), and later replied that the line had sold out (r/AtlasSeed thread of September 21, 2026, company reply October 1). Commercial growers can apply for a wholesale account for bulk seed and wholesale packs.

Prices and Pack Sizes

Every standard autoflower seed pack costs the same ($18, $40, $56), and so does every photoperiod pack ($20, $46, $65). One exception is a separate Mendo Frost Auto 5-pack listing at $75 ($15.00 a seed). These are the prices on the product pages on October 27, 2026:

Strain (type)1 seed3 seeds5 seeds
Mendo Breath Auto (autoflower, shop page)$18.00$40.00 ($13.33/seed)$56.00 ($11.20/seed)
Blue Dream Auto (autoflower, shop page)$18.00$40.00 ($13.33/seed)$56.00 ($11.20/seed)
Banjerine (semi-full-term photoperiod, shop page)$20.00$46.00 ($15.33/seed)$65.00 ($13.00/seed)
Gelato 41 (full-term photoperiod, shop page)$20.00$46.00 ($15.33/seed)$65.00 ($13.00/seed)
Blue Dream Full Term (photoperiod, shop page)$20.00$46.00 ($15.33/seed)$65.00 ($13.00/seed)

The listed price is not the whole story, because Atlas adds bonus seeds. Its Free Seed Program page shows a 1-seed pack with 1 bonus seed, a 3-pack with 2 bonus seeds and a 5-pack with 3 bonus seeds. If those bonuses arrive as shown, a 5-pack works out to $7.00 a seed for autos ($56 for 8 seeds) and $8.13 for photoperiods ($65 for 8 seeds). One grower on Reddit wrote that “8 seeds is pretty normal for a 5 pack” (r/AtlasSeed, June 16, 2026). Without the bonus seeds, $11 to $20 a seed sits at the upper end of the US market.

On returns, the terms say refunds are granted until the order ships, later requests are judged case by case, and returns are not accepted.

Shipping by Region

United States. The terms say orders ship “promptly once payment has been received (within 24-48 hours typically)”, and the FAQ block on product pages says orders “usually leave our U.S. vault within 1 to 2 business days”, with carrier transit time shown at checkout. Shipping is free on retail orders over $120. The cost below that threshold is not published on the policy pages and appears only at checkout. The site does not name a carrier or a shipping location.

Canada, UK, Europe and Australia. Atlas Seed does not ship retail orders outside the United States, according to its terms.

Packaging and tracking. The product pages say orders ship in plain packaging “with no loud branding and a neutral business name on the label”, and with a neutral name on your bank statement. The terms say “Tracking numbers are supplied upon request” and that the company is not responsible for lost or stolen packages or for parcels sent to an incorrect address. One first-time buyer on Reddit reported never receiving tracking (r/AtlasSeed, June 16, 2026), so ask for a tracking number if you do not get one.

Shipping to the US does not make growing legal everywhere. Seed and cultivation laws differ by state, and the federal hemp definition is changing in stages between November 12 and December 11, 2026 (P.L. 119-37, section 781, as amended by P.L. 119-103), which may affect how cannabis seeds can be sold and shipped (Congressional Research Service summary). Check your state and local rules before you order.

Germination Guarantee: The Exact Terms

Atlas Seed does not offer a written percentage guarantee, and its pages say different things about germination:

  • Terms of service: the company says “we do not give any guarantees” and “is not responsible for germination rates”.
  • Germination support page: the germination support form says lots are tested before release. Wait up to seven full days, then file within 45 days of the order date with your order number, email, variety, seeds attempted, start date and method. “Eligible first-time claims may receive a one-time replacement of the affected paid seeds”; promotional seeds and repeat claims need extra review.
  • FAQ: the FAQ says to expect germination “above 90%” and that the company will “make it right” if a lot does not perform. The Free Seed Program page says most lots germinate at 95% or higher.
  • Product pages: a FAQ block on the product pages we checked promises “a 100% germination promise” and replacement or credit “according to our policy”.

Treat the germination support page as the working rule, and keep notes and photos from day one, because the claim form asks for your method and start date.

Payment Methods

Product pages show Visa, Mastercard, American Express and Discover logos. We found no mention of PayPal, cryptocurrency, Zelle or Cash App on the site. We did not go through checkout, so confirm the available options there. The product pages say a neutral business name appears on your bank statement.

Deals, Loyalty and Discount Codes

As of October 2026, these are the ways to pay less at Atlas Seed:

Bonus seeds per pack. The Free Seed Program page shows 1 bonus seed with a single seed, 2 with a 3-pack and 3 with a 5-pack.

Spend tiers. The product pages we checked show a “Farmers Ladder” banner (“Spend $120, get $240 in free seeds added at checkout”) and a FAQ answer saying that carts reaching $120, $150, $180 and $210 get 18, 30, 42 or 63 bonus seeds, added automatically. A “Pick Your Free Seeds” promotional listing in the shop describes the offer differently: one free mystery 5-seed pack from $120, two from $180 and three from $240. Because the descriptions do not match, check what your cart actually adds before you pay.

Codes. We found no public coupon code on the site, and the product pages say the tier bonuses need no code. Codes posted on third-party coupon sites may be expired or invalid. We found no points or loyalty program on the site.

Customer Service

Atlas Seed handles retail support through web forms and email:

We found no phone number or live chat for retail customers. The site still links to a Discord server, but the invite link returned “Unknown Invite” on October 27, 2026, and an August 2026 thread on r/AtlasSeed asked what had happened to it.

On public complaint handling, the clearest example is from July 2026. A customer posted on r/AtlasSeed that Atlas had contacted him and wanted to hear from growers with “major issues” with Preservation and R&D seeds. In the replies, an Atlas representative said the company would help “on a case by case basis”, also for seeds bought through a reseller, and advised buying directly (r/AtlasSeed, July 7, 2026).

Reputation

Competitions and press. Atlas’s FAQ says Mendo Breath Auto won Best New Strain at the 2025 American Autoflower Cup with the highest potency in the competition. Trade site Ganjapreneur (December 22, 2025) reported that Atlas Seeds “set a new benchmark with Mendo Breath Auto, testing at 30.33% THC” in 2025. In February 2026 Atlas announced on r/Autoflowers that a home grower’s Garlic Jam took 2nd place Best Overall Auto and 1st place Best Smoking Auto at the 2026 American Autoflower Cup.

Review platforms. We found no BBB profile for Atlas Seed in a web search, and the SmartCustomer (formerly Sitejabber) page for atlasseed.com had no reviews (both checked October 27, 2026). On SeedFinder, which lists 185 Atlas Seed strains, only 2 strains had user reviews; those are strain reviews, not shop reviews.

On-site reviews. Most seed packs show star ratings between 4.2 and 4.5 from 5 to 10 reviews. We give these no weight: the reviews shown on the Farmers Ladder bundle pages describe a wooden photo display ladder rather than seeds, and every product page we checked showed the same “27 growers currently growing this” line.

Reddit. Atlas is discussed often, mainly by outdoor and autoflower growers. Note that r/AtlasSeed is run by the company. The themes we found:

  • “Atlas Seed Recommendations” (r/Autoflowers, March 20, 2026, replies into September 2026): growers recommend Garlic Jam, Grease Gun and Froot by the Foot, one citing “very consistent characteristics between phenos”.
  • “Sour Cindy auto by Atlas Seed” (r/Autoflowers, May 31, 2026): strong terpenes and dense buds but a lower yield than expected; several replies report solid Atlas grows.
  • “Inconsistent packing?” (r/AtlasSeed, June 16, 2026): a first-time buyer reports a mislabeled pack count, an unlabeled bag and no tracking number, alongside extra seeds.
  • “Another Herm” (r/AtlasSeed, August 21, 2026): a grower reports three hermaphrodite plants from Preservation line seeds bought through a reseller; a reply notes these were R&D lines and “aren’t consistent”; another reply disputes that the strain came from Atlas.
  • “Atlas Reached Out” (r/AtlasSeed, July 7, 2026): a customer reports that Atlas reached out; a company representative confirms in the replies.

These are individual reports that we cannot verify. Overall, grow reports on Atlas’s main lines are mostly positive, while complaints center on the experimental lines, seeds bought through resellers and packing accuracy.

Website and Grow Resources

The site has useful grower content: a detailed FAQ, a methodology page, an acreage calculator and germination guides. For general basics, our guide on how to grow cannabis at home covers the first grow.

The retail shop is less polished: germination texts range from “no guarantees” to a “100% germination promise”, free seeds are described three ways, product-page FAQs mention “Cherry Pie OG Auto” on unrelated strains, the seedling terms show a “((TBD))” placeholder, and the Discord link is dead. Rely on the dedicated policy pages, not the product-page FAQ.

Who Atlas Seed Suits, and Who Should Look Elsewhere

A good fit if you: grow outdoors in the US and want feminized autos or early-finishing photoperiods bred for field conditions and mold resistance; want breeder-direct packs with lineage and field data on each variety; or plan an order over $120 to get free shipping and the bonus seeds.

Look elsewhere if you: live outside the US; want regular seeds; want a written germination guarantee with a fixed percentage; want to pay with PayPal or crypto; or want automatic tracking on every order.

Atlas Seed scores 6.5/10 overall. Seed Quality and Germination leads at 7.5/10: Atlas breeds its own F1 hybrids, publishes lineage and field data and tests lots before release, and grow reports on its main lines are mostly positive, but there is no written guarantee and experimental lines drew hermaphrodite reports. Customer Service, Product Range and Price and Value score 6.5/10: form-based support without a phone, a feminized-only range of 68 packs, and $11 to $20 a seed that bonus seeds bring down to $7 to $8.

Shipping and Delivery scores 6.0/10 (fast dispatch and free over $120, but US only and tracking on request). Website and UX is lowest at 5.0/10 because of contradictory policy texts, template leftovers and on-site reviews that do not match the products.

Final Verdict

Atlas Seed is a real breeder with a real farming background, a documented breeding program and autoflowers that have placed at the American Autoflower Cup. For US home growers it offers feminized autos and early-finishing photoperiods at flat prices, with bonus seeds that lower the cost per seed considerably.

The gaps are on the shop side: no written germination guarantee, tracking only on request, no published shipping rate below $120 and contradictory policy texts. If you grow outdoors in the US and want field-tested genetics directly from the breeder, it is a good place to buy; if you want firm, clearly written policies, compare it with the shops below.
