Last updated: October 22, 2026

Homegrown Cannabis Co. (HCC) is a US seed shop that sells only its own house-brand genetics: feminized, autoflower, fast version, CBD and regular seeds, plus mix packs, clones and grow supplies. It ships only within the US and not internationally. The old homegrowncannabisco.com domain is no longer used; the shop runs on homegrowncannabis.com. Our verdict: a legitimate, active US seller with free shipping over $99 and a 120-day germination guarantee, held back by strict claim rules, pricey small packs, a weak public complaint record and help pages that contradict each other. We score it 6.4/10.

This review is based on Homegrown Cannabis Co.’s published policies, current prices and independent customer feedback. All facts were checked on October 22, 2026. Note that HCC is a different business from Homegrown Cannabis Company, a Michigan cannabis retailer with its own BBB listing in Lansing.

Buying Homegrown Cannabis Co. Seeds in the USA

HCC sells to US customers only. Its terms and conditions say the site is meant for adults 21 or older who live in the United States, and the homepage FAQ confirms shipping to all 50 states from a US warehouse, with a reminder to check local laws first. There is no international shipping, so buyers in Canada, the UK, the EU and Australia need a different shop.

The shop describes its seeds as collectible “genetic preservation souvenirs”, and its footer states that the seeds count as hemp under the 2018 Farm Bill. A help center article tells customers that new federal bills do not change their ability to buy seeds. That article does not address the staged change to the federal hemp definition described in the shipping section below, so read it as the seller’s view rather than legal guidance.

Who Homegrown Cannabis Co. Is

HCC presents itself as a breeder-to-consumer brand. Its FAQ says it acquired and rebranded GYO Seedbank, no longer sells third-party brands and produces all of its strains in-house. Former GYO customers kept their Eucalyptus Club points, which moved to HCC’s Homegrown Stash program. The company claims over one million seeds sold and says it tests its seeds for germination rates and phenotype accuracy; we could not verify those claims independently.

Who owns the business is less clear than we would like. The terms name no registered company. The site footer lists an address in Fort Lauderdale, Florida, the wholesale page gives a second Fort Lauderdale address, and the BBB file places the business in Oceanside, California, listed as a sole proprietorship that started in September 2018. According to HCC’s help center, payments made from a bank account appear on statements as My Natural Wellness LLC.

What about Kyle Kushman? A May 2021 press release introduced the veteran grower and former High Times writer Kyle Kushman as the lead of HCC’s “Cultivars with Character” range, and the company’s podcast “Grow Weed at Home” featured him. His dedicated page on HCC’s site was still live in an archived copy from September 2025, with strains sold as Kyle’s Cherry AK, Kyle’s Sweet Island and Kyle’s Skywalker OG. On October 22, 2026 that page redirected to the blog, the Cherry AK listing had been renamed without his name, and the About page named Parker Curtis and Nate Hammer as brand ambassadors. HCC has not published a statement about the change that we could find, so we do not describe Kushman as currently involved, and we make no assumption about why his pages were removed.

HCC also partners with Oaksterdam University: students on selected Home Grow and Horticulture courses get a code for a free four-pack, according to the Oaksterdam page. In the other direction, HCC’s discount codes page lists the code “homegrown” for 10% off selected Oaksterdam courses.

Catalog and Seed Types

HCC’s wholesale page speaks of “nearly 500 cultivars”. The shop’s sitemap on October 22, 2026 listed about 370 single-strain seed products (most of them feminized photoperiod strains or autoflowers, plus smaller groups of fast version, CBD and regular seeds) and about 25 mix packs. Every strain carries the Homegrown brand; you will not find other breeders here.

The current best sellers include Hash Burger, Acapulco Gold, Black Cat Kush, Blueberry Banger (from the premium “Homegrown Reserve” line), Lemon Cherry Gelato, Blue Lobster, Jack Cookies Auto and Ice Cream Cake Autoflower. HCC says Hash Burger was named Leafly’s Strain of the Year 2025. Classics such as White Widow, Blueberry, Sour Diesel, Strawberry Cough, Bruce Banner and Gorilla Glue #4 are in the range, as are older listings such as Big Devil Autoflower and Crystal Feminized. If you are deciding between feminized and autoflower seeds, our guide to feminized vs autoflower vs regular seeds covers the trade-offs.

Beyond seeds, HCC sells rooted cannabis clones (shipped by UPS 2nd Day Air; dead-on-arrival claims need photos, a video of the box being opened and a timestamp within 24 hours of delivery), grow kits and nutrients, and a line of THCa flower, vapes and pre-rolls. This review covers the seed shop only.

Prices and Pack Sizes

Product pages show 2, 4, 8, 12 and often 24 seed options, but on October 22, 2026 the 2-seed option had no orderable variant behind it on every product we checked, so smaller packs are not always available and 4 seeds is the practical minimum. Prices on October 22, 2026:

Strain (type)4 seeds8 seeds12 seeds24 seeds
Hash Burger (feminized)$55.00 ($13.75/seed)$79.00 ($9.88/seed)$109.00 ($9.08/seed)$189.00 ($7.88/seed)
Big Devil Autoflower$55.00 ($13.75/seed)$79.00 ($9.88/seed)$109.00 ($9.08/seed)$189.00 ($7.88/seed)
Blueberry Banger (Reserve, feminized)$59.00 ($14.75/seed)$95.00 ($11.88/seed)$130.00 ($10.83/seed)$189.00 ($7.88/seed)
GMO (feminized, on sale)$55.00 ($13.75/seed; list $70)$79.00 ($9.88/seed; list $149)$109.00 ($9.08/seed; list $210)Not listed

The pattern is clear: 4-packs cost about $14 a seed, and the per-seed price drops below $10 from 8 or 12 seeds up for most standard strains (Reserve strains such as Blueberry Banger stay higher). HCC acknowledges its prices “can be a little higher” in a help article and points to small-batch production and grower support.

Mix packs. The Mix Packs collection listed about 25 packs, each combining three strains around a theme (best sellers, high THC, outdoor, indoor, CBD and more). The Best Sellers Mix Pack lists $69 for 6 seeds, $138 for 12, $240 for 24 and $360 for 36. On October 22, 2026 mix packs were on sale: $51.75 for 6 ($8.63/seed) and $269 for 36 ($7.47/seed).

Returns and cancellations. Unwanted orders can be returned within 14 days for a full refund, but only if the outer mailing package is still unopened (return policy, help article). The FAQ allows self-service cancellation within one hour of ordering.

Shipping by Region

United States. Orders ship by USPS from a US fulfillment center. Standard tracked shipping costs a flat $12.99 and is free on orders over $99 (shipping cost article); USPS Tracked Expedited costs $14.99 with a 3 to 6 business day window (expedited article). The quoted standard delivery time varies by page: 4 to 9 days in the help center, 6 to 9 days on the homepage. Dispatch claims also differ, from “90% of our orders are shipped out in 1 day” to fulfillment “within 1 to 3 business days” and, in the expedited article, processing within 3 to 5 business days after payment. Plan on roughly one to two weeks from payment to delivery for standard shipping.

Canada, UK, EU and Australia. HCC does not ship outside the United States.

Packaging and lost parcels. According to its packaging article, orders ship in discreet, crush-proof packaging with no logo, company name or description of the contents on the label. The FAQ promises a free reshipment if an order has not arrived within 25 business days, provided you contact HCC within 90 days of the shipping window; orders sent to an address entered incorrectly are not reshipped free. Use your real name, since the post office may ask for ID if you have to collect a parcel.

Shipping to the US does not make growing legal everywhere. Seed and cultivation laws differ by state, and the federal hemp definition is changing in stages between November 12 and December 11, 2026 (P.L. 119-37, section 781, as amended by P.L. 119-103), which may affect how cannabis seeds can be sold and shipped (Congressional Research Service summary). Check your state and local rules before you order.

Germination Guarantee: The Exact Terms

HCC’s germination guide and help center set these terms:

  • Window: 120 days, starting the day after delivery.
  • Method: the guarantee applies only if you use the paper towel method as instructed (two damp paper towels, a plate, a warm dark place, 24 to 120 hours, never letting the seeds dry out).
  • Proof: photos showing all germinated and ungerminated seeds together with a newspaper or phone showing the date. HCC may also ask for evidence of proper storage, such as a photo of the container.
  • Limits: one claim per order. If you germinate seeds from the same order at different times, only the batch you claim for is covered. BOGO seeds are covered; bonus seeds added with a coupon are not.
  • How to claim: through the claim form linked from the germination guide.

HCC refers to “replacement products” when it assesses claims, but it does not say how many seeds it replaces or at what failure rate, so the outcome depends on its assessment. The terms are longer than many seedbanks offer, but the paper-towel-only rule and dated photos mean you should photograph your germination from the start.

Payment Methods

HCC accepts more payment types than most US seed shops. The homepage FAQ lists Mastercard, Visa, Apple Pay, Zelle, bitcoin, bank transfer and crypto. The payment options article and payment page add the details:

  • Credit and debit cards, excluding Discover and prepaid cards; usually visible to HCC within 1 to 2 business days
  • ACH/eCheck with your routing and account number, at checkout or by phone (3 to 5 business days)
  • Zelle and crypto, processed the next business day (the help center names BitPay, the homepage BTCPay)
  • Cash, check or money order by mail; the order ships once payment arrives, which can take up to two weeks
  • Payment by phone with a live agent at (760) 313-7455

Some options vary by state, according to the FAQ. Payments from a bank account appear as My Natural Wellness LLC. There is no PayPal.

Deals, Loyalty and Discount Codes

As of October 2026, these are the ways to pay less at Homegrown Cannabis Co.:

Published codes. The discount codes page listed two codes on October 22, 2026: “letsgrow” for free shipping on one order and “gg4auto” for a free 4-pack of Gorilla Glue #4 autoflower seeds with any purchase. Both are limited to one use per customer. HCC says the codes on that page “are the only ones that matter”, so treat coupon sites with caution.

Sales. On October 22, 2026 the site ran 25% off all mix packs and grow supplies, a rotating “Buy One Get One Free” selection, and four free seeds with clone orders.

Military discount. Active-duty personnel, Guard and Reserve members, retirees and honorably discharged veterans get 15% off every order after verification by email, with no minimum; it cannot be combined with other offers (military discount page).

Homegrown Stash. The free loyalty program awards points on spending and promotions, redeemable at checkout. Members earn 1 point per $1 spent, according to the help center, and points count toward store credit for 12 months. The reward table itself is only visible on the logged-in Stash page.

Wholesale. Bulk buyers can ask for a quote, but the minimum is unclear: the wholesale page says 1,000 seeds (which can be split 50/50 between two strains), the help center says 100.

Customer Service

HCC offers these channels:

  • Support form, which HCC calls the preferred route (contact article)
  • Phone: (760) 313-7455, with live agents Monday to Friday from 6:00 AM to 7:00 PM Pacific (one payment article says until 8:00 PM)
  • Email: [email protected]
  • A chatbot and a help center with articles on shipping, payment, germination and returns

Long phone hours on weekdays are a real plus. Two things count against it. First, HCC’s public complaint record is poor: the Better Business Bureau gives it an F, and the reasons BBB lists are two complaints that the business did not respond to (checked October 22, 2026). Second, an older help center at homegrowncannabisco.helpdocs.io is still online and still quotes $10.99 shipping, free shipping over $115 and 5 to 10 days, which no longer match the shop. Even the current help center has one delivery article quoting free shipping over $50, while the shipping cost article and homepage say $99.

Reputation

BBB. The BBB profile for Homegrown Cannabis Co. (Oceanside, CA) shows an F rating, no accreditation and two complaints, both without a response from the business. Its two customer reviews average 1 out of 5: in August 2023 a customer reported receiving CBD seeds instead of THC seeds and an unanswered refund request, and in April 2024 a customer reported promised extra seeds missing and a different strain on the invoice. Two reports is a small sample, but neither received a public reply.

SmartCustomer. The SmartCustomer page for homegrowncannabis.com had no reviews on October 22, 2026.

Forums. Independent forum feedback is limited and mostly positive. In a GrowWeedEasy thread started on May 25, 2025, a buyer asked whether floating Jack Herer auto seeds were dead; replies from November 2025 said the float test proves nothing, and two members reported good results with HCC genetics, including Gelato autos. A THCFarmer thread from 2020 got a short positive reply in July 2025 praising customer service and Granddaddy Purple. HCC runs its own subreddit, r/homegrowncannabisco, which is a company channel rather than independent feedback.

On-site ratings. Product pages show on-site scores, for example 4.9 out of 5 from 20 reviews for Hash Burger and 4.7 from 264 for the Best Sellers Mix Pack. These are collected and displayed by HCC itself, so give them less weight than an independent platform.

Website and Grow Resources

The shop is easy to browse: clear menus for feminized, autoflower, fast version and regular seeds, categories by plant type, THC level, yield and indoor or outdoor use, a strain-finder quiz, and a large “Grow Your Own” library of articles and videos. Product pages list THC, plant type and flowering type, and SKU codes on the packaging show the seed type and pack size. For a beginner start, our guide on how to grow cannabis at home covers the basics.

The weak spot is consistency. Delivery times, dispatch times, the free-shipping threshold ($99 on most pages, $50 in one article), support hours, the crypto processor and the wholesale minimum all differ between pages; the terms and conditions refer to British consumer law even though HCC only sells in the US; and the outdated helpdocs.io help center is still reachable. When pages disagree, go by the current help center and ask support before you rely on a detail.

Who Homegrown Cannabis Co. Suits, and Who Should Look Elsewhere

A good fit if you: live in the US and want house-brand genetics shipped domestically; order 8 to 12 seeds or more, or over $99, so shipping is free and the per-seed price drops to about $9 to $11; want to pay by Zelle, crypto, ACH, mail or phone; are a veteran or service member (15% off); or want a long, written germination window and are happy to use the paper towel method.

Look elsewhere if you: live outside the US; want just a few seeds of one strain without paying $13.75 to $14.75 a seed plus $12.99 shipping; want strains from other breeders; prefer a germination policy with a set replacement formula; or put weight on a clean public complaint record.

Overall6.4/10

Homegrown Cannabis Co. scores 6.4/10 overall. Product Range is the strongest category at 7.0/10: about 370 single-strain seed products across every seed type, about 25 mix packs and clones, limited by the fact that everything is one house brand. Shipping and Delivery follows at 6.8/10 for free tracked USPS delivery over $99 to all 50 states and an expedited option, held back by US-only coverage and conflicting delivery estimates.

Seed Quality and Germination and Price and Value each get 6.5/10. The guarantee window of 120 days is generous, but it requires the paper towel method and dated photos, allows one claim per order and does not say how many seeds are replaced; independent feedback is thin. Prices are high for small packs (about $14 a seed in a 4-pack, the smallest orderable size) and reasonable from 8 to 12 seeds, with codes, BOGO deals and a military discount helping. Customer Service lands at 5.8/10: long weekday phone hours and many contact routes, against a BBB F rating for two unanswered complaints. Website and UX also scores 5.8/10: a well-built shop and grow library, undercut by contradictory help pages and an outdated help center that is still online.

Final Verdict

Homegrown Cannabis Co. is a legitimate, active US seed shop with a large house-brand catalog, free tracked shipping over $99, flexible payment options and a 120-day germination guarantee. It suits US growers who buy 8 to 12 seeds or more, or who use the mix packs, codes and military discount.

The drawbacks are concrete: no shipping outside the US, expensive small packs, a guarantee with strict proof rules and no set replacement formula, a BBB F rating based on two unanswered complaints, and help pages that contradict each other. Kyle Kushman, once the face of HCC’s Cultivars with Character range, is no longer featured on the site. If those points do not put you off, HCC is a reasonable option. To compare it with the rest of the field, see our seedbank review hub.

Frequently Asked Questions

Where is Homegrown Cannabis Co. based, and who owns it?

Homegrown Cannabis Co. is a US company. Its site lists an address in Fort Lauderdale, Florida, its BBB file places it in Oceanside, California, and payments from a bank account appear as My Natural Wellness LLC. The terms do not name a registered owner.

Does Homegrown Cannabis Co. ship to the USA, and to other countries?

It ships only within the US (all 50 states, and US territories without tracking according to one help article) and not internationally, so there is no shipping to Canada, the UK, the EU or Australia. Seed and cultivation laws differ by state, so check your local rules before you order.

How long does Homegrown Cannabis Co. take to ship?

Standard USPS Tracked shipping is quoted at 4 to 9 days in the help center and 6 to 9 days on the homepage, plus up to a few business days to dispatch. USPS Tracked Expedited takes 3 to 6 business days and costs $14.99. Standard shipping costs $12.99 and is free over $99.

Where does Homegrown Cannabis Co. ship from?

Orders ship from a US fulfillment center by USPS. HCC does not publish the warehouse location.

Is Homegrown Cannabis Co. legit?

Yes, it is an active US seed shop that has operated since at least 2018 and still ships orders. Points to weigh: the BBB rates it F because two complaints went unanswered, independent reviews are few, and its help pages contradict each other on delivery times.

Does Homegrown Cannabis Co. have a germination guarantee?

Yes. It runs for 120 days from the day after delivery, applies only to seeds germinated with the paper towel method, requires dated photos of all germinated and ungerminated seeds, and can be claimed once per order. HCC refers to replacement products but does not say how many seeds it replaces or at what failure rate.

What payment methods does Homegrown Cannabis Co. accept?

Visa, Mastercard, Apple Pay, ACH or eCheck, Zelle, bitcoin and other crypto, cash, check or money order by mail, and payment by phone. Discover, prepaid cards and PayPal are not accepted.

Are there Homegrown Cannabis Co. discount codes?

Yes. On October 22, 2026 the official discount page listed letsgrow (free shipping, one use) and gg4auto (a free 4-pack of Gorilla Glue #4 autoflower seeds, one use). Verified military members and veterans get 15% off, and mix packs were on sale.

Is Kyle Kushman still with Homegrown Cannabis Co.?

The current site no longer features him. His Cultivars with Character page, still live in an archived copy from September 2025, now redirects to the blog, and the About page names Parker Curtis and Nate Hammer as brand ambassadors. We found no public statement from HCC about the change.

What Changed in This Update

Compared with our previous version of this review, the germination window is now 120 days instead of 90 and the old points-or-replacement formula is gone, free shipping starts at $99 instead of $115, Big Devil Autoflower costs $55 for four seeds instead of $80, the shop has moved to homegrowncannabis.com, and Kyle Kushman is no longer featured. We also removed an undocumented first-hand claim about the live chat and added scores, sources and the BBB record.
