Last updated: October 22, 2026

Royal Queen Seeds (RQS) is a European seed breeder with roots in Amsterdam, headquarters in Catalonia, Spain, and since 2023 its own US distribution. It sells feminized, autoflower, CBD, regular and F1 hybrid seeds, runs a points-based loyalty club and ships free to every country on its list, with Germany the one exception (free from €65). Our verdict: a legitimate, long-running seedbank that now ships US orders free from an Oregon warehouse, held back by a germination policy without fixed terms and no shipping to Canada or Australia. We score it 7.1/10.

This review is based on Royal Queen Seeds’ published policies, current prices on its US and European stores, and independent customer feedback. All facts were checked on October 22, 2026. We may earn a commission if you buy through our link to Royal Queen Seeds; it does not change the score.

Buying Royal Queen Seeds from the USA

The most important change since our earlier review: Royal Queen Seeds USA is a separate storefront at royalqueenseeds.com/us with prices in dollars. RQS says it started distributing within the United States in 2023, and its US shipping page states that all seeds for US orders are sent from its warehouse in Oregon. Delivery is free and runs through USPS First Class Parcel, with a quoted 4 to 9 working days. Tracking updates are available from the moment the parcel leaves the warehouse.

There are limits. The US store does not ship to Kansas or Kentucky, and it does not ship outside the USA. RQS asks for a real name and a private delivery address and takes no responsibility for parcels sent to forwarding or cargo companies, relay points or public places. The US shipping page lists only standard (free) packaging, while the US help center still mentions a $5 DVD stealth option, so check what checkout offers before you count on stealth. Before you order, also read the legal note in the shipping section below: a US address on the shipping list does not make growing legal in every state.

Who Royal Queen Seeds Is

According to its About page, the RQS story starts in 2007. The first store opened on Damstraat in Amsterdam in 2010, the webshop followed in 2011, and a Barcelona store opened in 2016. In 2023 the company began distributing in the US and launched what it describes as the first true F1 hybrid cannabis seeds. A 2024 rebrand gave the company a new visual identity.

Today RQS is headquartered in Catalonia, and the company on its invoices and legal pages is Snorkel Spain SL, Montornès del Vallès (Barcelona). Card statements show “Royal Queen Seeds” or “Snorkel Spain”. Its store page currently lists two brand stores: Damstraat 46 in Amsterdam and a shop in Durban, South Africa. One help center answer still mentions “two cannabis shops in Amsterdam”, so the store page is the more reliable reference.

RQS lists a long run of industry awards on its Cup Winners page, including Best Seed Bank at Spannabis in 2019 and 2024 and at the IndicaSativa Trophy in 2019 and 2023. These come from the company’s own page, but the events are public competitions.

Catalog and Seed Types

The catalog is larger than the “mainstream only” picture of our earlier review suggested. RQS’s help center cites over 80 feminized strains, 50+ autoflowers, 10+ CBD strains and 8+ F1 hybrids, and on October 22, 2026 the US store listed 91 feminized products and 18 F1 hybrids. On top of that come mix packs, a USA Premium line of West Coast genetics (77 products on the US store), the Tyson 2.0 collaboration seeds and, on the European store, regular seeds.

Classics include White Widow, OG Kush, Northern Light, Sour Diesel and Critical, next to house strains such as Royal Gorilla, Green Gelato, Fat Banana, HulkBerry, Royal Runtz and Cookies Gelato.

For Royal Queen Seeds autoflower buyers, the autos in RQS’s own Top 10 list are Northern Light Auto, Quick One, Easy Start, Green Gelato Auto and Royal Dwarf. RQS says its autos can be ready about 10 to 12 weeks from germination. If you are still choosing a seed type, our guide to feminized vs autoflower vs regular seeds covers the trade-offs.

The F1 hybrids are the most distinctive part of the range. F1 seeds come from crossing two stable inbred parent lines, which should give very uniform plants. RQS was among the first seedbanks to sell F1 hybrid cannabis seeds (by its own account). Expect to pay a premium for them (see prices below).

Prices and Pack Sizes

Most strains come in 1, 3, 5 and 10 seed packs, and many also in 25-packs. These are the regular (non-sale) prices we saw on October 22, 2026:

Strain (type)US store, 3 seedsUS store, 10 seedsUS store, 25 seedsEU store, 10 seeds
Special Queen 1 (feminized)$13.50 ($4.50/seed)$38.50 ($3.85/seed)$73.50 ($2.94/seed)€30.00 (€3.00/seed)
Northern Light (feminized)$27.50 ($9.17/seed)$76.50 ($7.65/seed)$153.00 ($6.12/seed)€60.00 (€6.00/seed)
Astro Lemonade F1 (F1 hybrid)$48.00 ($16.00/seed)$132.00 ($13.20/seed)$264.00 ($10.56/seed)€110.00 (€11.00/seed)

So the budget lines (Special Queen 1 and Special Kush 1) sit under $5 a seed in larger packs, mainstream feminized strains cost roughly $6 to $12 a seed, and F1 hybrids run about $10 to $21 a seed. The lowest per-seed price we found was Special Kush 1 at $2.76 in a 25-pack ($69.00); the most expensive single seed was Cosmos F1 at $20.50. Bigger packs cut the per-seed price sharply. During the Halloween sale running on October 22, 2026, some strains were marked down: a 3-pack of Royal Gorilla cost $24.15 instead of $34.50 (30% off), and Northern Light Auto $23.60 instead of $29.50.

Two practical notes: you need an RQS account to order (no guest checkout), and the European store has a €25 minimum order in most of Europe. Returns are accepted within 14 days of receipt only if the product is still factory sealed, per the return policy.

Shipping by Region

United States. Free USPS First Class Parcel from Oregon, 4 to 9 working days, tracking from dispatch, no shipping to Kansas or Kentucky. Details are in the section above.

Europe. According to the shipping information page, orders for Europe ship from Spain with free standard delivery to Austria, Belgium, Croatia, Cyprus, Czech Republic, Denmark, Estonia, Finland, France, Germany, Greece, Ireland, Italy, Latvia, Lithuania, Luxembourg, Malta, the Netherlands, Poland, Portugal, Romania, Slovakia, Slovenia, Spain and Sweden. Germany is the exception: the German store offers free delivery only from €65. RQS quotes 3 to 15 working days. Tracking only updates once the parcel reaches the destination country, which can take up to 10 business days. A Spanish shipping partner carries the parcel to your country and a local courier delivers it. RQS does not ship to the Canary Islands.

United Kingdom. The UK is on the list, with the same free delivery from Spain. Stealth packaging is not available for the UK, vaporizers are not shipped there, and customs duties and import charges apply, collected by Royal Mail or the courier before delivery. RQS does not ship to the Channel Islands.

Canada and Australia. Neither country is on the shipping list, so RQS does not deliver there.

Dispatch and packaging. The help center says most orders ship within 24 business hours of payment, Monday to Friday. Parcels go out in plain boxes. In Europe you can add stealth packaging in a DVD case for €5; it takes the same time, but free gifts such as stickers or grinders are left out (free seeds are still included). Deliveries may need a signature, and the courier will not call ahead. RQS states it cannot advise on the legal status of its products in each country and is not responsible if customs seizes a parcel.

Shipping to the US does not make growing legal everywhere. Seed and cultivation laws differ by state, and the federal hemp definition is changing in stages between November 12 and December 11, 2026 (P.L. 119-37, section 781, as amended by P.L. 119-103), which may affect how cannabis seeds can be sold and shipped (Congressional Research Service summary). Check your state and local rules before you order.

Germination Guarantee: What RQS Actually Promises

The site banner advertises a “99% Germination Rate”. That is a rate, not a guarantee. RQS does not publish a fixed guarantee with a set window or automatic replacement. Its help center says that if seeds don’t germinate, you can send a detailed description of your germination method, images of the process and proof of purchase, and RQS will “assess each situation on a case-by-case basis”.

In practice, RQS recommends the paper towel method and asks you to wait: if nothing has sprouted after a week, contact support. The germination option in the contact form asks for the strain, your method, how many seeds failed, when you started and photos of the non-germinated seeds. RQS does not publish a claim deadline, a replacement formula or exclusions. Keep your order number and photograph every step, because the outcome depends on RQS’s review.

On seed quality itself, RQS says all seed batches are tested for viability and vigor and come from organic, pesticide-free plants. We could not verify those claims independently.

Payment Methods

Our earlier review said RQS accepts cryptocurrency. That is not correct: both payment pages exclude bitcoin. The US payment page lists three options: credit card, Apple Pay and bank transfer through ACH (processed by its partner Valmar, typically 3 to 5 business days). The European payment page lists Visa and Mastercard, Apple Pay and bank transfer (1 to 4 business days; use your order number as the reference).

Both stores state that they do not accept PayPal, cheques, money orders, cash on delivery or bitcoin, and prepaid credit cards cannot be processed. Card payments can take up to 24 hours to clear before the order is processed.

Deals, Loyalty and Discount Codes

As of October 2026, these are the ways to pay less at Royal Queen Seeds:

Current sale. The “Halloween Hunt” offered up to 50% off marked products on October 22, 2026. RQS also runs BOGO (buy one, get one free) deals on selected strains.

Published codes. The US promo page listed two codes on October 22, 2026: HALLOWEEN26, part of the Halloween promotion, for a free RQS Pollinator Grinder above a minimum spend (shown as €80), and RQSPAPERS for a free booklet of hemp rolling papers. Codes expire and usually cannot be combined with other promotions or used on sale items, so treat third-party coupon sites with caution.

Free seeds on every order. The freebies page sets tiers on the order value: 1 free seed from $25 (or €25), 3 from $50, 5 from $75, 10 from $135, 15 from $200, 25 from $325, up to 35 free seeds from $455.

Newsletter and vouchers. Signing up for the newsletter unlocks a prize wheel (free seeds, 10% or 20% off, or a gift) with a code valid for 48 hours. Each order includes a scratch card with a discount or free seeds, and according to the discounts help page, leaving a product review earns a 10% voucher (not valid on discounted products).

Growers Club. The free Growers Club is more structured than most seedbank loyalty schemes we have reviewed. Every $1 spent earns 1 XP and 1 Green Coin, and each Green Coin is worth $0.10, which works out to 10% back on purchases. XP from the last 18 months sets your tier: Starter, Grower, Greenfinger or Master Grower. Higher tiers add bigger birthday discounts (10% up to 20%), double-points days and entry rewards of 50 to 100 Green Coins. Green Coins expire 24 months after you last earned any.

Customer Service

RQS offers several channels:

  • Contact form, with a stated reply time of 24 hours
  • Email: [email protected]
  • US phone: +1 541 255 0449, Monday to Thursday, 7:00 to 10:00 AM Eastern (US contact page)
  • European phone: +34 930 47 75 43, Monday to Thursday 8:00 to 16:00 and Friday 8:00 to 14:00, Spanish time
  • An online help center with FAQs on shipping, payment, germination and the Growers Club

A dedicated US phone line is a plus, but three hours a day, four days a week, is narrow. On public complaint handling there is little to go on: we found no Better Business Bureau profile for Royal Queen Seeds, and its SmartCustomer (formerly Sitejabber) page had no reviews on October 22, 2026.

Reputation

Independent review data on Royal Queen Seeds is thin. As noted above, we found no BBB profile and no SmartCustomer reviews (checked October 22, 2026).

The RQS website shows 4.7 out of 5 from 60,193 reviews. That is an on-site score, collected and displayed by RQS itself, so give it less weight than an independent platform.

Royal Queen Seeds comes up often in grow forums, but forum anecdotes about individual orders are hard to verify, so they play no part in this score. If you check forums yourself, look at recent, dated threads: policies such as US shipping changed in 2023.

Website and Grow Resources

The site is well organized: clear categories for autoflower, feminized, CBD and F1 seeds, plus filters for traits like yield, THC, indoor or outdoor and flowering time. Strain pages list THC/CBD, yield, height, flowering time, genetics and effects, and RQS says it has published nearly 2,000 pages of grow content, from plant problems to harvesting. For a beginner-friendly start, our own guide on how to grow cannabis at home covers the basics.

The weak spot is consistency. The US help center still says tracking only updates in the destination country and mentions a $5 stealth option, while the US shipping page says tracking starts at the warehouse and lists standard packaging only. The About page and help center also disagree on the number of Amsterdam stores. When answers conflict, go by the shipping information page for your store.

Who Royal Queen Seeds Suits, and Who Should Look Elsewhere

A good fit if you: live in the US (outside Kansas and Kentucky) and want free domestic shipping with tracking from an established breeder; live in the EU and want free delivery (a €25 minimum order applies in most of Europe, and free shipping in Germany starts at €65); want to try F1 hybrids; or buy regularly and will use the Growers Club and free-seed tiers.

Look elsewhere if you: live in Canada or Australia (no shipping); want a written germination guarantee with fixed terms; need to pay with PayPal or crypto; or want stealth packaging in the UK or on the US store.

Royal Queen Seeds scores 7.1/10 overall. Shipping and Delivery is the strongest category at 7.8/10: free delivery without a threshold almost everywhere (Germany from €65), a US warehouse with USPS tracking from dispatch, and a clear country list, held back by no shipping to Canada, Australia, Kansas or Kentucky. Customer Service follows at 7.3/10 thanks to a 24-hour form, a support email and phone lines on both sides of the Atlantic, although the US line is open only a few hours a week.

Seed Quality and Germination, Product Range and Price and Value each land at 7.0/10. The seed quality score reflects a long breeding record and awards, minus a germination policy that offers only case-by-case review. The range is broad, with F1 hybrids, USA Premium and regular seeds. Pricing is mid-range with real extras: free seeds from $25, 10% back in Green Coins and frequent sales. Website and UX stays at 6.0/10: the site and grow content are good, but help center answers contradict the shipping pages on tracking, stealth packaging and store locations.

Scores and details come from each seedbank's own review on this site and update when that review is re-checked.

Royal Queen Seeds suits growers who want established European genetics and F1 hybrids with free US shipping. If a written germination guarantee is a priority, compare the terms in our reviews of Growers Choice Seeds and Nirvana. For a much larger breeder catalog, see our Seedsman review.

Final Verdict

Royal Queen Seeds is a legitimate, well-established seedbank, and for US growers it is a better option than our earlier review suggested: orders ship free from Oregon by USPS, with tracking from dispatch and a 4 to 9 day delivery window. The catalog is broad, the F1 hybrids are a distinctive extra, and free seeds plus 10% back in Green Coins add real value for repeat buyers.

The gaps are concrete. The “99%” on the banner is a germination rate, not a guarantee, and claims are judged case by case. There is no shipping to Canada, Australia, Kansas or Kentucky, no PayPal or crypto, and the help center sometimes contradicts the shipping pages. If those are not deal-breakers, RQS is a solid choice. To compare it with the rest of the field, see our seedbank review hub.

Frequently Asked Questions

Does Royal Queen Seeds ship to the USA?

Yes. US orders go through the RQS USA store and ship free from a warehouse in Oregon by USPS First Class Parcel, except to Kansas and Kentucky. Seed and cultivation laws differ by state, so check your local rules before you order.

How long does Royal Queen Seeds take to ship?

Most orders leave within 24 business hours of payment, Monday to Friday. RQS quotes 4 to 9 working days for US delivery and 3 to 15 working days for deliveries from Spain to Europe and the UK.

US orders ship from the RQS warehouse in Oregon. Orders to the EU and the UK ship from its warehouse in Spain.

Yes, but they rotate. On October 22, 2026 the US promo page listed HALLOWEEN26 (part of the Halloween promotion: free grinder above a minimum spend) and RQSPAPERS (free rolling papers), next to a Halloween sale of up to 50% off. Every order also earns free seeds from a $25 spend.

No. Canada is not on the RQS shipping list, and neither is Australia. The current list covers the US, the UK and most EU countries.
