Dutch Passion Review 2026: US Store, Prices and Guarantee

Dutch Passion is one of the oldest cannabis seed companies still in business: founded in Amsterdam in 1987 by biologist Henk van Dalen and widely credited as the first company to sell feminized seeds commercially. It sells only its own genetics (feminized, autoflower and regular seeds) through a European webshop and, since 2024, a separate US store that ships from Illinois. Our verdict: a legitimate, long-running breeder with fair prices, free EU shipping from €70 and a real loyalty program, held back by the lack of a written germination guarantee and mixed independent feedback on seed quality and support. We score it 6.8/10.

This review is based on Dutch Passion’s published policies, current prices on its European and US stores, and independent customer feedback. All facts were checked on October 22, 2026.

Dutch Passion at a Glance

Buying Dutch Passion Seeds in the USA

US buyers cannot order from the main European store. Its shipping FAQ sends US customers to Dutch Passion USA at dutch-passion.us, a separate store with dollar prices that, according to its own timeline, opened in 2024. Its US FAQ says orders ship from a warehouse in Illinois, mostly by USPS (some by UPS). The store aims to send orders within 2 business days, and delivery should follow within 2 to 5 business days of receiving your tracking number. Because the seeds ship from inside the US, there is no customs step.

The US store ships to every state but not to US territories such as Puerto Rico, Guam or the US Virgin Islands. When we priced test carts on October 22, 2026, checkout offered one option, USPS Ground Advantage at a flat $7.95, for every order value we tried from $34.95 up to $349.50, so there appears to be no free-shipping threshold. Payment is by credit card only, and guest checkout is possible.

The US catalog is smaller than the European one. The US About page lists 78 varieties for sale in the US, and pack sizes are limited to 3 and 5 seeds for feminized strains, 3 and 7 for autoflowers and 10 for regular seeds. The US store links to a folder of lab results and states that all its products contain 0.3% delta-9 THC or less. Its terms of service name a Spanish company, Tigre Uno Distribución, S.L. (a Barcelona-registered online retailer, CIF B66227869, according to Infoempresa), and Spanish law, while the European store is run by the Dutch B.V. Who Dutch Passion Is

According to its About page, Dutch Passion’s roots go back to 1972, when founder Henk van Dalen began growing cannabis in the Netherlands while studying biology at university in Amsterdam (1970 to 1976). He crossed seeds from imported Thai and Nigerian cannabis, was offering seeds to other growers on a small scale by the early 1980s and formally set up Dutch Passion in Amsterdam in 1987. A year later he opened the coffeeshop Homegrown Fantasy, which is now under other ownership. An independent profile by Beard Bros Media confirms the 1987 founding by van Dalen and places Dutch Passion in the first wave of Dutch seed companies.

The feminized-seed story needs some precision. Dutch Passion says it “invented feminized seeds in the 1990s”, and its US site dates the first feminized seeds to 1997. Independent accounts put it slightly differently: Beard Bros Media describes Dutch Passion as the first seed company to bring feminized seeds to the commercial market, in 1998, while noting it was not the first to create them, and a 2025 history in Honeysuckle also gives 1998. A 2022 Soft Secrets interview repeats the company’s own version. The safe summary: Dutch Passion was the first to sell feminized seeds commercially, in the late 1990s. The company also says it worked with the Joint Doctor on early autoflowers in the 2000s and released CBD-rich and THCV/CBG-rich strains later.

The company behind the European store is Zaadhandel Dutch Passion B.V., registered with the Dutch Chamber of Commerce under number 33191331 and listed as active on OpenCorporates, with Dutch Passion and Super Sativa Seed Club as trading names. The customer service page lists two addresses: the head office and wholesale department at Hoogoorddreef 133 in Amsterdam, and webshop customer service with a public showroom at Molensingel 71 in Maastricht. Parcels carry “DP BV in Maastricht” as the sender. Dutch Passion also has a Thai website with a flagship store in Bangkok and an Argentine website.

A note on Seed Stockers, which is often described as Dutch Passion’s budget brand: Seed Stockers was set up as a subsidiary seed bank of Dutch Passion, but according to a June 2023 podcast episode, its CEO Jouke Pieperbrink took it independent in 2022. It now operates separately from Barcelona; see our Seed Stockers review.

Dutch Passion’s site currently claims 109 cannabis cups (its US site says 100+). These are the company’s own counts and we did not verify them award by award.

Catalog and Seed Types

Everything in the shop is bred or selected by Dutch Passion itself; it does not resell other breeders’ seeds. On October 22, 2026 the European store’s cannabis seeds category listed 180 products, including trial packs and package deals. The feminized category held 68 listings, autoflowers 54 and the regular seeds category 31. Many classics come in both feminized and regular form; the About page says about a third of the varieties are still offered as regular seeds, which matters if you want to make your own crosses.

Classics include White Widow (which Dutch Passion sells as its original F1 version), Blueberry, Skunk #11, Power Plant, Mazar, Durban Poison, Shaman, Passion #1 and the outdoor favorite Frisian Dew. Strawberry Cough is also in the range. Newer lines include Critical Orange Punch, Kingston Punch, Fruit Bomb Punch, Sugar Bomb Punch, Lemon Z, Blue Zushi and Slush Mint Cake. Best-selling autos on the store’s own list include Auto Critical Orange Punch, Auto Orange Bud, Auto Cinderella Jack, Auto Skywalker Haze, Auto Ultimate, Auto Think Different and Auto Banana Blaze. There are also CBD-rich strains and a “Special Cannabinoids” family bred for THCV or CBG. Some strains, such as The Ultimate and GMO Fast, were out of stock on the day we checked.

Prices and Pack Sizes

On the European store, feminized strains usually come in 1, 3, 5 and 10 seed packs, autoflowers in 1, 3 and 7, and regular seeds in packs of 10. Prices include Dutch VAT (21%); the store applies the local VAT rate for several EU countries at checkout, so the final price can change slightly when you enter your country. These are regular (non-sale) prices we saw on October 22, 2026:

Most mainstream feminized strains therefore cost roughly €6 to €12 a seed in 3 to 10 packs, regular 10-packs are the cheapest route (€3.00 to €7.00 a seed in our examples), and newer premium strains run higher, up to €49.95 for a single Kerosene Krash seed (€219.95 for 10, or €21.99 a seed, though the 10-pack was out of stock). On the US store, Frisian Dew costs $34.95 for 3 seeds ($11.65 each) and $54.95 for 5 ($10.99), Auto Skywalker Haze $69.95 for 7 ($9.99), and Slush Mint Cake $74.95 for 3 ($24.98) or $94.95 for 5 ($18.99). Passion #1 regular seeds were listed at $64.95 for 10 ($6.50 each) but sold out. Among packs in stock on October 22, 2026, the cheapest per seed was Critical Orange Punch at $34.95 for 5 ($6.99) and the most expensive Kerosene Krash at $114.95 for 3 ($38.32); THC-Victory lists at $129.95 for 3 ($43.32) but was on sale for $90.97.

Sale prices on October 22, 2026: the European store’s “Halloweed” promotion offered 1+1 free seeds on selected strains (for example Frozen Biscotti and Mokum’s Tulip; 3+3 Frozen Biscotti cost €29.95) and 20% off “sweet” strains such as Slush Mint Cake and Sugar Bomb Punch. The US store advertised up to 30% off, with Mokum’s Tulip at $41.97 for 3 seeds instead of $59.95.

Shipping by Region

United States. Through the separate US store only: ships from Illinois by USPS, flat $7.95, aims to dispatch within 2 business days, then 2 to 5 business days in transit. No shipping to US territories. Details are in the US section above.

Europe. The shipping FAQ lists direct shipping to Austria, Belgium, Croatia, Cyprus, the Czech Republic, Denmark, Finland, France, Germany, Greece, Ireland, Italy, Luxembourg, Malta, Monaco, the Netherlands, Poland, Portugal, Romania, Slovakia, Slovenia, Spain and Sweden. According to the shipping page, standard mail (letter post) is free for seed orders from €70 and usually takes 3 to 10 working days in Europe (Netherlands 1 to 2, Belgium 2 to 5; the shipping FAQ says 1 to 15 business days). FedEx express is available to most of these countries and quotes 1 to 3 working days. Orders placed before 15:00 Amsterdam time on working days ship the same day. Standard mail can go to a P.O. box; express cannot. Tracking is only available with a trackable delivery option.

United Kingdom. The UK is on the direct shipping list with the same free standard mail from €70 and 3 to 10 working days. FedEx express is not offered to the UK. Dutch Passion says it ships to the UK “without any hassle or extra charges”; we could not verify that independently.

Canada and Australia. The shipping FAQ says Dutch Passion does not currently ship directly to Canada, and Australia is not on the list. Buyers there are pointed to the official dealer list instead.

Packaging. Seeds ship in plain packaging with nothing on the outside to show the contents. The seeds themselves come in branded clear plastic cases. Dutch Passion warns that fake Dutch Passion packs circulate and publishes a guide to spotting counterfeit packets, so buy from the company itself or a listed dealer. For storage, Dutch Passion recommends the original packaging in a cool, dry place such as the fridge; our page on storing seeds has more detail.

Shipping to the US does not make growing legal everywhere. Seed and cultivation laws differ by state, and the federal hemp definition is changing in stages between November 12 and December 11, 2026 (P.L. 119-37, section 781, as amended by P.L. 119-103), which may affect how cannabis seeds can be sold and shipped (Congressional Research Service summary). Check your state and local rules before you order.

Germination Guarantee: What Dutch Passion Actually Promises

Dutch Passion does not publish a germination guarantee with a percentage, a claim window or a replacement formula. Its category pages say you “should expect 90%+ germination rates with fresh seeds”, which is an expectation, not a guarantee. The About page adds a general promise: “If for any reason at all you are not satisfied with our seeds then contact us and we will make things right.”

In practice, germination problems go through the contact form. The US customer service form has a germination route that asks for your order number, proof of purchase, which seeds failed and how many, how you germinated them, and photos of the process; based partly on those photos, Dutch Passion says it gives “suitable advice or make[s] a proposal to replace the seeds”. The EU store asks for an order number, a clear description and photos for any complaint. Keep your order number and photograph each step, because the outcome is a case-by-case decision. The 14-day withdrawal right and “free reimbursement” in the European terms apply to returning an order under EU consumer law, not to seeds that fail to germinate.

Payment Methods

The European store’s payment FAQ lists Visa and Mastercard (stated as available if you live in the EU), bank transfer, iDEAL and Bancontact. The FAQ also mentions cash payment by post and advises sending cash by recorded delivery, which can take a week or two to arrive. Card statements show “DP BV”, not the brand name. We found no mention of cryptocurrency or PayPal in the payment FAQ.

The US store’s FAQ says it currently accepts card payments from the major credit card brands only, with no pay-after-delivery option.

Deals, Loyalty and Discount Codes

As of October 2026, these are the ways to pay less at Dutch Passion:

VIP program. Dutch Passion has run a loyalty program since September 25, 2017. With an account you earn 1 point per euro (or per dollar on the US store), and each point is worth €0.05 (US: $0.05), which works out to 5% back. Points can only be spent on seeds, not on merchandise or shipping, and cannot be transferred or cashed out (VIP program page, US VIP page).

Free seeds. On the European store, every €35 you spend adds one free seed to your shipment (it does not show in the cart).

Sales. The seed sale page and the October 2026 “Halloweed” promotion offered 1+1 free seeds on selected strains and 20% off others. The US store advertised up to 30% off.

Discount codes. Both stores have a field for discount codes, but we found no published public code on either store on October 22, 2026. Codes on third-party coupon sites may be expired or fake, so check the official sale pages and newsletter instead.

Customer Service

Channels listed on the European customer service page:

WhatsApp and Skype are marked “Closed” on the customer service page, although the About page still mentions Skype, and the terms and the US germination form still give an older Amsterdam number (+31 20 421 5051). Staff speak English and Dutch; other languages go through translation software. The terms say complaints are answered within 14 days. Dutch Passion also handles complaints about its seeds bought from official dealers, with proof of purchase.

On public complaint handling, independent data is limited. We found no Better Business Bureau profile, and SmartCustomer had no reviews for dutch-passion.com or dutch-passion.us on October 22, 2026. Where users have rated support, the picture is weaker than the brand’s reputation suggests (see Reputation).

Reputation

SeedFinder. On SeedFinder’s seedbank review page, Dutch Passion’s General Impression score was 5.81/10 from 35 user reviews (Product Quality 5.59, Delivery Speed 7.2, Customer Service 4.65), checked October 22, 2026. SeedFinder lists the shop as “orange”, its label for shops with known problems that buyers should look at more closely. The reviews span 2008 to 2024; the most recent ones are mixed, from praise for fast delivery and good germination to complaints about seeds that did not sprout and support that did not offer a replacement. Separately, SeedFinder users have rated 82 of Dutch Passion’s strains, averaging 7.09/10.

Reddit. Discussions are mixed too. In a July 2024 r/microgrowery thread asking whether Dutch Passion is reliable, many growers describe it as a reputable, long-standing breeder with stable classics, while others report poor germination on recent orders or weaker genetics than in the past, and one user describes a refund dispute. In a June 2026 r/Autoflowers thread rating auto breeders, one grower gave Dutch Passion 7.5/10, praising two autos but noting one very poor phenotype. An August 2026 r/microgrowery post describes a stunted Blueberry plant grown next to another breeder’s strain. These are individual reports and we could not verify them.

On-site ratings. Dutch Passion’s website shows 4.8 stars from “3000+ Google Reviews”. That figure is displayed by the company itself, so give it less weight than an independent platform.

Website and Grow Resources

The European site is available in ten languages, has filters for seed type, THC, yield, flowering time and “families” of related strains, and its strain pages are detailed, with lineage, flowering time, yield, cup history and grow tips. The blog covers grow topics and counterfeit packs, and Dutch Passion says new strains are grown in public grow diaries before they go on sale. The weak spot is consistency. The footer and terms give Hoogoorddreef 109, the customer service page Hoogoorddreef 133 and Maastricht; three different phone numbers appear across pages; Skype is “Closed” on one page and offered on another; cup counts range from 90+ to 109 depending on the page; and the feminized-seed date is “the 1990s” on one site and 1997 on the other. A VAT notice from 2021 still says the website “is not yet fully optimized” to show correct prices before checkout. Shipping costs below €70 only appear in the cart.

Who Dutch Passion Suits, and Who Should Look Elsewhere

A good fit if you: want original Dutch Passion genetics (White Widow, Blueberry, Frisian Dew, the Orange family) straight from the breeder; want regular seeds for your own breeding; live in the EU or UK and can reach the €70 free-shipping level; live in the US and want domestic shipping with no customs step; or buy regularly and will use the VIP points and free seeds.

Look elsewhere if you: want a written germination guarantee with fixed terms; live in Canada or Australia; want free US shipping or more pack sizes on the US store; need to pay with crypto or PayPal; or want a multi-breeder catalog in one order.

Scoring Summary

Dutch Passion scores 6.8/10 overall. Shipping and Delivery is the strongest category at 7.5/10: a US warehouse in Illinois with USPS delivery, free EU and UK standard mail from €70, same-day dispatch before 15:00 and FedEx express in most of Europe, held back by the flat $7.95 US fee and no direct shipping to Canada or Australia. Product Range follows at 7.0/10, with 180 seed listings across feminized, autoflower, regular, CBD-rich and special-cannabinoid strains, all from one breeder.

Seed Quality and Germination and Price and Value each land at 6.8/10. The seed score reflects a long breeding record and stable classics, minus the lack of a written germination guarantee and mixed independent reviews of recent seed quality. Pricing is mid-range, with cheap regular 10-packs, 5% back in VIP points, a free seed per €35 and frequent 1+1 deals. Customer Service gets 6.5/10: phone lines, a public showroom and a 24-hour reply target, but closed chat channels and weak support ratings on SeedFinder. Website and UX stays at 6.0/10 because of conflicting addresses, phone numbers and claims across pages.

Final Verdict

Dutch Passion is a legitimate, registered Dutch company with almost four decades of history and a real place in cannabis history as the first company to sell feminized seeds commercially. For US growers, the biggest news is the separate US store: seeds now ship from Illinois by USPS for a flat $7.95, with no customs step. European buyers get free standard shipping from €70, several payment options and a VIP program worth 5% back.

The gaps are concrete. There is no written germination guarantee, only a case-by-case review with photos. Independent feedback on SeedFinder and Reddit is more mixed than the brand’s reputation suggests, and the website contradicts itself on basic contact details. What changed in this update. This version adds the separate US store (Illinois, USPS, $7.95 flat), the EU free-shipping level of €70 and the full payment list, which goes well beyond credit cards. It corrects earlier statements that Dutch Passion has no loyalty program and no regular seeds, and it replaces forum-based germination figures with the company’s own wording. Ratings now come from independent platforms, and the scores were recalculated.
