Crossing Amnesia Lemon’s hybrid genes with Afghani Kush’s pure Indica makeup resulted in a sturdy Sativa plant that matures quickly. Amnesia Lemon Kush’s height is medium to tall, and it has a branchy structure that supports plenty of colas. The widely-spaced foliage consists of narrow, lime-green leaves coated with shimmering trichomes, and the enormous, pale-green buds are sprinkled with wiry orange pistils.
This strain requires less maintenance than most since its leafage is not overly dense. Unlike bushy Indicas, it does not need regular manicuring to avert the proliferation of powdery mildew in the nooks and crannies. Occasional pruning of the extraneous leaves is sufficient, and its primary purpose is actually more to redirect the plant’s energy to fatten up the bud sites. Moreover, the buds are highly resistant to botrytis (bud rot) since their fibers are quite loose.
When grown indoors, the plant can stretch up to a maximum of 160 cm (63 inches). A standard-sized grow room or tent will give it just enough vertical space to expand. Nevertheless, the grow light must always be kept a safe distance from the apical bud to prevent leaf burn. Especially if you are using heat-generating bulbs like HPS/MH, it is best to monitor the gap between lamp and plant, as well as the ambient temperature. The optimal range is between 21 to 27 degrees Celsius (70 to 80 degrees Fahrenheit). At the same time, you should also regulate the RH (relative humidity) level so that it does not exceed40 to 50%.
There are two ways to boost the yield with this strain. The simplest is the Sea of Green (SoG) method, which even novice gardeners can implement without any previous experience. All it means is rearing several plants simultaneously; around 7 to 9 per square meter is ideal. It maximizes the use of the available space while reducing costs. What’s more, it hastens the vegetative stage so that the plants can be switched to flowering even if they are only 25 to 30 cm tall (10 to 12 inches).
The other technique is the Screen of Green (ScroG). It is slightly more complicated because you will need to fix a net or screen over the plant. As the new branches emerge, they should be bent and weaved through the screen’s holes. Not only will that limit the plant’s height by guiding it into a flat, tabletop shape instead of vertically, but it also exposes all the colas to the grow light equally, ensuring proper development of the buds.
Using either SoG or ScroG, an impressive yield of 450 to 600 grams (16 to 21 ounces) can be achieved. Don’t forget to install an efficient ventilation system with a carbon filter to minimize the odor.
If you have access to an outdoor space far enough from any neighbors who might notice the smell, you should try to grow Amnesia Lemon Kush al fresco. It will be considerably taller – 200 to 230 cm (6.5 to 7.5 feet) – but you can be rewarded with 700 to 1000 grams (25 to 35 ounces) of usable bud per plant. The most important factors to consider are temperature and rainfall. As a Sativa, this strain prefers tropical or subtropical climates with lots of sunshine and not too much rain.
