Get to know Purple Lemonade
Purple Lemonade is an autoflowering-only strain. Unlike photo period cannabis plants grown from regular and feminized seeds, it matures and goes through growth stages with age, not light cycles. This makes growing the strain straightforward because you simply leave it under a fixed light schedule, whichever you prefer, from seed to harvest. The auto also grows faster but doesn’t stretch as much as photo periods. It stays around 70 to 120 cm tall, and the crops are ready for collecting in 9 to 10 weeks from the day the seeds are planted.
Why grow this Purple Lemonade?
With all the advantages of growing Purple Lemonade, the long list of positive reviews it gets from both inexperienced and seasoned growers comes as no surprise. Consider this strain if you’re new to growing or simply fresh pot without the long wait.
Purple Lemonade’s lifespan is short, so it may not recover from major stressors and injuries. It cannot be kept in the vegetative stage longer to bounce back and will start flowering regardless. As such, we recommend planting the auto in its final pot right from the beginning to avoid transplant shock. Growers don’t need massively huge pots, but they should have 12 to 15-liter capacity, so the autoflower has adequate space to grow and doesn’t go root-bound.
Purple Lemonade thrives in light and airy soil with low amounts of nutrients. Ready-made commercial potting mixes often contain too much nutes, so growers must read the label and go for the lightly fertilized options. The auto also does not do well in heavily compacted soil, which restricts the root system’s access to air.
How to grow the strain indoors?
Indoor growers don’t have to worry about light schedules with Purple Lemonade; they can leave the lights onfor as many hours as they want. Which light cycle is better is still open to debate, but most agree that giving at least 18 hours of light help maximize the plant’s growth and bud production.
Besides providing ample light, a training technique can boost the auto’s yields. The Sea of Green (SOG) method is one of the most popular and effective options when growing multiple small plants of the same strain.
Purple Lemonade is ideal for growing in a SOG as it is naturally of modest size. To execute SOG, fit as many autoflowering plants as possible into every square meter of the grow area. The number of Purple Lemonade you want to grow in SOG and the pot size you want to use depend on the available space. With this technique paired with long hours of light, growers can achieve between 400 and 500 grams per square meter.
How to grow the strain outdoors?
The best season for cultivating Purple Lemon outdoors is at the beginning of summer, when the sun shines most. When the auto gets more light in stronger intensity, it grows and produces more. We recommend germinating the auto seeds a month before the summer solstice, so the flowering period coincides with the most optimal time of the year.
Start the first batch during early spring if you want to harvest more than once each year. The harvest should be ready by the end of the season, at which time you can start the second batch for end-of-summer collecting. If autumn permits, you can germinate a third one.
If Purple Lemonade receives 12 hours of direct sunlight daily, achieving maximum yields between 50 and 250 grams per plant is possible.
